Framing Terminology
- Letter Mat
- A mount (mat) with an aperture or apertures in the shape of a letter or letters of the alphabet, often spelling a name, or symbols. Mostly procuced by CMC (Computerised/Computerized mount/mat cutters)
- Lime Wood
- A very light coloured, light density, almost grain free timber. Alternative to tulip wood.
- Lime Wax
- (Liming wax) A polish which can give some timbers a "bleached" look if worked well into the grain with wire wool or a firm brush before polishing. The most popular UK brand is Liberon.
