Do you store white daily use mat board and back board vertically as well?
Yes, all mountboard stored together.
I have a slightly angled glass storage unit which I also use to store backing boards. Offcuts of glass can be stored very easily between sheets of backing board.

Personally, I would use those drawers to store customers' artwork safely and create a vertical storage box for mountboards. In my experience very few boards receive any damage when stored vertically, any damage I find is usually caused by returning an offcut into the vertical storage. I imagine that...

Seconded, Larson Juhl are a world renowned company. The issue possibly arises when production of a profile and finish is moved from one factory/supplier to another. We as framers hold a sample on our wall, sometimes for years, but often when a change is made on the production side, our wall sample i...

@JFeig So if I'd just used a backing board with a waterproof backing it would have been better. I think I'll go with Correx this time. And maybe do an acrylic sealant over the gummed backing tape.

Maybe this is the only thing they have which has the glass sandwich taped.
Interesting point.

@john so why not seal the package? Yes I have a moisture meter, I'll check it when it comes in on Monday. (I did offer to drop it back last time and have a look at the hanging place, but she was a bit defensive). Incidentally when she brought it back in on Monday with a completely warped backboard, ...

So, let's assume that the wall isn't damp, then it's the temperature fluctuation around the frame versus the temperature of the cold stone wall which is causing the reaction? This time the customer noticed that it had happened overnight, since she rehung it yesterday afternoon.

So I did this piece about 6 weeks ago. It was as you'd expect, perfect, when it left here. Hung straight on the wall. Centrally heated stone cottage outside wall, "near" but no above a radiator. It was brought back in this week and the corri con backing had completely ballooned outwards, p...

Sorry @nolanstacey, I meant I do the same as I did before. @wannabeframer go to hinging in "extra charges" and add in the material costs of mountboard per size and add the undermount cutting labour onto the hinging labour et voila!(but like I said it doesn't allow for level 1 jobs, but I g...

Yeah I see your logic. I think I did the same way with Estlite so it made sense to carry on.

Under Extras, I have added one called "Hinging" which is for straight T hinging but includes the cost of the undermount. Obviously it doesn't allow for rag mounts though, so I lose a bit there. Alternatively you could add the undermount as another mount and by clicking on "Straight&qu...

You're buying materials wholesale and adding value by cutting, joining etc. If you're not charging a proper markup on materials then in effect you are supplying them at a wholesale price?!

I'm £105 & £230 no vat. I have a few framers on speed dial and we often price check and compare notes. They're not local to me, but we work to the same standards, so it has helped me ensure I'm not undercharging. When you say you have low overheads, are you sure that you are considering all of t...

It's also worth considering, will you need a customer space for presenting samples, creating designs etc. From a customer service as well as health and safety point of view, it is good to limit the space that customers have access to. By setting up a dedicated space near a door, with a table, sample...
