Celtic Woman

Post by jPaul »

Just caught the show "Celtic Woman" on our PBS "Public Broadcasting Station" and just love the sound / spectacle and the dance. The woman aren't bad to look upon either.

They are coming to my hometown in April on tour, just might have to buy a ticket.

Any fans out there. What do you think. Who else would you recommend.

If you enjoy the music in Celtic Woman, check out Irish choral group Anúna (pron: Anoona). They sang the intro to Riverdance in the Eurovision, which was OK, but their album work is outstanding.

Also worth checking out is the band Solas (pron: Sullas): their original female lead vocalist, Karen Casey, does lovely work. Emer Quinn (who also works with Anúna) has an exceptional voice. For Irish traditional with a slight country leaning, you can't go wrong with Mary Black.

We went to a Mary Black concert last year (or was it the year before) and it was very disappointing - we left at the interval.

We have a couple of her albums and they're great but for the concert she was singing mostly rock/pop styled stuff - and it seemed pretty mediocre at that. I hope she's returned to what she does best.
