Re: Framing calculator

Apologies for not responding, not been on here for quite a while, hopefully I will be able to catch up with things soon. Please bear with me and I will get it sent out as soon as I can. I didn't realise it would be so popular.

Best wishes

Re: Framing calculator

There is a flaw in two formulas in the spread sheet and my thanks go to Peter Ramsay for pointing them out. When calculating the glass and back sizes it fails to take into account the addition of a mount. Fortunately the difference in price when using float or non reflective glass is quite trivial h...

Re: Framing calculator

Hope its OK to reply to these queries to the list as other users may find it useful Kashif86, Perhaps I was being a bit too general in saying 'Don't change the pink cells'. Obviously if a cell contains a formula it would be unwise to change it but general things like labour charges, sundries costs, ...

Re: Framing calculator

The views of this post have now exceeded 1200 and I have sent out over 50 copies of my program. I gave it away freely but suggested if you are happy with it a donation would be nice. I have only received one donation and my sincere thanks go out to that person but I am now wondering if the program i...

If you would like a copy please let me know your email address and I will send it to you. Many sincere thanks to those...

Re: Framing calculator

A number of people have asked if the Arqadia range of mouldings could be added to the calculator. For various reasons it is not just a matter of adding them to the moulding page as some of you may have discovered. I have now added the Arqadia mouldings and re-written parts of the program to accommod...

Framing calculator

Hello Framers, Some years ago I developed a framing calculator based on Excel. It has served me well and if you look at older posts you will see that I did consider selling it but eventually decided not to. After over 40 years in the computing industry I know the amount of time spent supporting a pr...

Re: Estimating software

Hello again LeFrisp, Everything works well on the Mac with the exception of cell shading which comes up with different colours. On the PC version the data is entered into the blue cells, the cells you should not touch are shaded pink. On the iMac running MacOs 10.58 the pink shading comes out yellow...

Re: Estimating software

Hello LeFrisp I will try it on a Mac this evening, it should be OK as I have hopefully written it to be cross platform. A perennial problem when porting from PC to Mac are font discrepancies but hopefully I can find a compatible one. However, these could be famous last words... Hello Nigel, Could yo...

Re: Estimating software

Many thanks George, you are obviously a man of integrity as you did not offer to give me the software or divulge too many details of it. As a computer programmer/engineeer of over 40 years standing please accept my sincere thanks for that. My program is still being developed, the basic costing struc...

OOPS!!!!!

Sorry forgot to mention, when you click on Edit -> Properties you need to be on 'Local Folders'. If you are sitting in your Inbox you will only see the properties for that particular folder.

Re: Estimating software

Hello George,

Can you give me some more details of this. I have written my own program and was thinking or releasing it into the wild for £10 a go. It would be interesting to see what the competition is like.

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird

Hello Robo, SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is used for sending mail whereas POP (Point of Presence) is used for receiving it. You need to set up your SMTP settings with the name of your providers server. If you are lucky it will be the same as the POP setting and you know this one is working. ...

Re: And How do I Mount This?

Hmmmm, tricky. Firstly I wouldn't apply any heat to the back by welding, brazing or soldering. The base is copper which will expand more than the enamel (glass) decoration when heated. You could end up with a disaster on your hands. I think gluing is the only answer using epoxy resin or silicone. Ma...

Re: Hello

Many thanks to you all for the warm welcome. I will have a look at the other companies mentioned especially Lion. I did order a catalogue last year but it never arrived. Perhaps my postman is a closet framer and needed it for those cold winter evenings. Will order another one today so its probably b...

Hello

I am new to the forum so please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Colin, I am a computer engineer/programmer by profession, a sculptor by passion and a gallery owner to help maintain the starving artist status. I started framing about a year ago after buying a Hansen mitre cutter, a Morso und...
