Framing a linen backed poster advice please
I have been asked to frame a valuable linen backed poster with no mount. I know I need to make sure that I use a fillet to keep the poster from the glass. Is it ok if I wrap the excess linen around a conservation backing board and hold that wrapped over linen in place using Hayaku hinging tape?

Marks on moulding
I have matt black moulding which was marked when I unwrapped it. There are some shinier marks, probably just from handling. Any suggestions on how I can make that look mat again?

sourcing E4380
An Italian Gallery that I have framed for wants to match a deep frame I made for canvas using Wessex E4380 2" flat grained black moulding. Does anyone know of other sources of this moulding that an italian framer may be able to access?

Sprayed frames?
I went to the affordable art fair last week and there were some frames that looked as if they had been moulded to size. Then I realised saw a tiny little part of the corner joint of one of them so my guess is they must have been sprayed with something after making - anyone know how this is done? Sha...

Re: Hard wood frames
Thanks for that. I am using a cassese CS88. I was considering the best way of cross pinning which is why I was asking about a nail gun.

Thanks for your reply. I am not making the stretcher frame, I am making frames for the finished canvas. The mouldings available are quite limited.

wood for making bespoke canvas frames
I am being asked to make frames for canvas. I am trying to source wood that has a weight similar to the ready made canvas moulding. Some of the canvases I am framing are quite large and the lightest wood that I can find at the local wood merchants is still very heavy when I use it on a large canvas,...

I am not happy with my joints underpinning a deep ash moulding using a cassise cs88 . Has anyone used Fletcher CORNERLOCK JOINER 4000 and what do they think of it. Would it be good for really large frames as well as ash. My biggest has been 5ft by 6ft

Re: problems with casese CS88
Well I'm getting there! All the advice helped develop my skills. Cassese technical advice was great I sent them photos and they pointed out that the wedges were not central. But is was Pete from Framers equipment that was truly amazing, we had the phone on speaker as he talked us through getting the...

Re: posting glass
Thanks Dermot and Mike, Great advice, I must shift from the I can do that approach and be more pragmatic if I have any hope of making any money from framing, I get drawn in too easily. Mike has given good advice that I can pass on to the customer, I can make his frames and he can do the rest, and I ...

Re: problems with casese CS88
Thanks for the advice. I managed to get it a little better but it still gapes at the bottom. Its ash dome deep rebate. So I'm using hard wood wedges, stacking seems to make it worse.
I agree with you Sandra, I go to the underpinners with trepidation!
