Re: CS88 jamming
Im using Cassesse weges and I have had the head apart, cleaned and lubed it. I had a look this morning and it looks like the spring isnt strong enough to keep pressure on the wedges in the slide. Aside from beefing the spring up somehow anyone else got any less drastic ideas?

CS88 jamming
Does anyone else have a problem with wedges jamming in a CS88. Im just about pulling my hair out. Any wedge over 7mm has a tendency to jam in the head after about 5 or 6 wedges. I have replaced the hammer and the underpiner has been used to make less than 100 frames all in.
Any ideas?

shrink wrapping
Just a quick question
who shrink wraps RMF and cut mounts for sale.
and how do you do it?
I ask because Im trying to protect my RMF etc from scuffing and dinks . I find that moving them between markets is starting to make em tatty. And Im looking to find an efficient way to protect them.

Re: Customer Request - Drymounting - Alternatives please
I have been successfull using White cold sticky board and spacing the image away from the glass with clear 1.5mm econospace from lion. I cut the sticky 2 mm wider than the mounted image and attached the econospace strips so they covered the 2mm sticky border and just encroached onto the image. On th...

Re: Cassese guru required
Did a bit with pneumatics about 20 years ago. I would guess that on the rear of that panel, looks like an air distribution panel to me, there are air inlets and outlet ports one of which may be loose/ or leaking. Im guessing but the delay in firing will be something to do with a sensor wanting the p...

Re: Presenting, displaying & promoting ready made frames
You may want to have a word with Avantime I bought a load of his RMF. top quality Ash and Oak with a really good finish for about the same as I could buy moulding in for. The quality is such you can have a nice margin for no effort and make a killing on offering a mount for them. Im promoting them a...

I went on Sunday and Monday. It was my first time and while Im glad I went and I got a lot from it. I have to say however I was a bit disappointed by the compactness of the framing area. I had expected more to be there.

Sound advice Roboframer. Thanksif the customer still insisted I'd either refuse the job or do just as they ask with a signed disclaimer.

Re: What do I do here with this one
The artist has attached it to a wall in the gallery using the nails. So the nails are going to be removed when its new owner picks it up. So the foamboard / rag combo will become its new "Wall" The new owner wants it floating and they are passionate about not trapping art behind mountboard...

Re: What do I do here with this one
Thanks Dermot.... looks like a lot of practice required before having a go on the piece. Just tried using a panel pin shoved into a piece of Rag and then into a piece of 5mm Foam board. You could hang a wet duffle coat on it..... Just need to find stainless panel pins. Is a stainless pin the way to ...

O flippin eck I exclaimed as the job was described to me. I havent taken it on yet and I thought I would take some Guru views before I did. The customer has bought a piece about 2 foot by 3 foot. It is on thin very fibrous paper. I havnt seen it yet but she describes it as not translucent but not fa...

Order forms and terms of business
As a new framer I have been doing what others have doubtless done when starting their business, I have been talking the job through with the customer, making a few scribbled notes on what they want and just making it happen. As I get further into this it seems downright stupid. I have no formal writ...

Re: close mounted
Flippin good question I have just taken on 3 photos which the customer wants without mounts. I have been racking my brain trying to work out how to raise the glass away from the photograph Im so far down to a 4mm wide Mount cut to bang on the inside measurement of the frame to separate the image fro...
