Re: Keencut Excalibur 5000 help
This is really a no brainer you learn so much about the machine and importantly you set it up to your meet your quality standard (i.e. squareness and calibration) and not to someone else's. It is a good idea as suggested to have someone help with lifting it from horizontal to leaning against the wal...

Re: Not happy with new Keencut blades
Abi, give Keencut a call on 01536 263158 and they will sort it out for you. I do know that the blades are now polished as before they weren't but they should not have oil on them. Are they definitely Keencut blades they should have their name stamped on them.

Keencut have just launched a new website and it has its own forum https://www.keencut.com/support-forums/ probably a good idea to give that a go.

Zorro, the link you will need for the white glass cutters is here https://www.glassparts.co.uk/plastic-wheel-holder-135-deg-white-wire?search=white Interesting conversation regarding the machine comparisons, on the one hand I can understand the parallel between the System 4000 and the FT3100 but the...

The Keencut sales code for this part is LBB and it comes with the screws, not sure how much it costs but give them a call and they will get you sorted.

Re: Bendy bevel cuts
Yes, that's exactly right. The mount is trapped under the cutter bar so it cannot move and is too tough to compress or shrink back like the loaf and the slice bends and moves out of the way by the full blade thickness. If you look closely as you cut you will see the dropout rising as the blade passes.

Re: Cutting a window using 3.5mm mountboard
The Ultimat Gold should cut 3.5mm but check the following: * The cutting head should have minimal (ideally zero) side play or the board will use that loose movement to pull the blade slightly off track and once the blade starts to veer offline it will bend the blade tip so it can continue on its pat...

Re: Keencut Ultimat - Original vs Gold vs Futura
I think I am right in saying that in the last thirty years or so there has been very little functional change in the Fletcher so its easy to supply spare bearings for a thirty year old machine when the design hasn't changed, just saying! The Ultimat changed to the Gold in the mid-nineties and the cu...

Re: Bendy bevel cuts
When cutting modern tough boards, particularly conservation boards on a manual cutter there are a few important factors: * The cutting head should have minimal (ideally zero) side play or the board will use that loose movement to pull the blade slightly off track and once the blade starts to veer of...

Re: Keencut system 4000
There are two types of glass cutter, the earlier one is in a black holder it can be obtained through Lion individually or Keencut (code TCGCW £11.16 each sold in packs of 5), if it is the later one in a white holder it is no longer available from Keencut but it is available from GlassParts in Southa...

Re: Keencut System 4000 glass cutting
Me again, Part 2,...... If none of that works or it is inconsistent there is a problem elsewhere, if you need proof takeout the glass cutting wheel and hold it between finger and thumb, run it down the glass to score then break with your fingers. I have done this many times with both types of wheel ...

Re: Cutting glass on the Keencut 5000
There seems to be a number of different ways various people are breaking the glass and if the score line is good then any push, twist, thump or press will concentrate the glasses distortion around the score line to produce a clean break. Personally I press at the top where James' X is because should...

Re: Cutting glass on the Keencut 5000
Hi James, if the glass feels springy or breaks with a bang there is simply something not right with the glass or the glass wheel. First of all the glass, if you have had the same results on different supplies/batches of glass then that can quite easily be ruled out. The wheel has to be in good condi...

Re: Keencut Ultimat Futura
Hi Louise, Did you get it sorted? If not try carefully peeling up the right hand end of the label which is just above where your arrow is and you should see a flat topped Allen screw hidden underneath it. I think it may have come loose, tighten it and I think the problem should disappear. By the way...

Re: What mount & glass cutters to buy?
Pepper - you don't sound very impartial - I pointed out what I saw as pros and cons for both machines but you only point out pros for one and cons for the other. Sorry if it sounded one sided, but if you review your points they are also tilting one way. However, this just shows how passionate this ...
