Re: HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT?

I think that is fine - we have contacts with a few galleries in the trade that we swop stock around at cost price -and it works quite well for all of us. We also get calls from "unknown" galleries looking for particular prints and as long as we are happy to sell and the buyer is happy to p...

Re: Retailing

We always give hooks with every picture bought, or framed by us. We used to stick a couple of hooks and pins to the back of the frame, but we had a picture returned for a change of mount colour a year or two after it was purchased and there were the hooks still stuck on the back. We now buy small po...

Re: How not to make a complaint!

When we were kids in the '60's our dog died, so my Dad went off to get another. After searching and asking around he found a kennel that had this pedigree dog that he got a bit cheaper cos it wasn't very well and he brought home this odd looking thing - a puppy Bedlington Terrier - we had never hear...

Re: Window poster

We use foamboard regularly and have not had a problem with a "cheesewire" effect - there is not enough weight for this to be a problem. Large pieces can curl however so it depends on the size of the poster - having just read the original post and seen that the posters are printed on vinyl,...

Re: Window poster

If the posters are only being hung for a short term, dry mount them to foamboard, one to each side, then hang with wire hangers - or short lengths of nylon fishing line. If they are long term, or need to be reused, then heat seal them to help them last a bit longer.

Re: Customers Own Frame

Wilkinson's is nothing like Poundland or Lidl - it is more like Woolworths, or like Woolworths should have been - good hardware store selling good quality branded products as well as some cheaper brands - very good for decorating and gardening stuff, Dulux and Crown paints. They do sell some cheap t...

Bambi Compressor

I have an 23 year old Bambi Compessor which has given me good service over the years but one of the "pots" has given up the ghost, so we have decided it is time to replace it with a newer model. It is currently working on one cylinder, although it does take a few minutes longer than usual ...

Re: wages for mountcutters

Don't forget the legal requirement to pay at least the minimum hourly wage plus you have to give your staff 5.6 weeks paid holiday - over 21 £5.93 PH - the previous example, assuming a 35hr week would work out at £6.00 per hour, but you will still have to pay 5.6 weeks holiday pay.

Re: Bowing Artwork

One problem is that they may have bought it for the size, the colour and the way it looks, but, if they decide to sell it in a few years and the guy they sell it to knocks the price offered right own due to it being dry mounted, they will have forgotten what you said and be knocking on your door for...

Re: PPL

Its funny isn't it. If an artist has some one photocopy his or her work and sell them on ebay or on a market stall, or even in some shops we rightly stamp our feet and complain that the artist and the genuine retailers are being ripped off and are pleased when the rip off merchants are caught. Howev...

Re: Lion Deliveries

We have been using Lion for 20 odd years and they have always provided excellent service, quick deiliveries, good quality product, good prices and good advice when needed- overall exact what I need from a supplier. As said before, the delivery problems are almost certainly down to the local carrier ...

Re: Framer needed in Pinner

Thanks very much for your replies - I think the customer is going to opt for artscreen glazing so we will be sending the picture for him. If he decides to have it framed locally I'll pass your details onto him.

Thanks Again,

Robin

That Dom Littlewood gets on my paps! A few years ago he fronted Don't get Done, Get Dom where he went round mainly independamt high street shops showing the viewers how to ask for discount. We had a speight of customers, mainly retired people who watch daytime TV, asking for discount "because D...

Re: Framer needed in Pinner

Thanks for your comments - we have sent out quite a lot of frames in wooden moulding, but not in Ally frames - I am not a big fan of aluminium frames.

I will persuade the customer to accept Artscreen and send it myself.

Regards

Re: Framer needed in Pinner

We usually do use UV acrylic glazing on all frames we ship, I am just concerned at how thin a frame the customer has specified. If I have a couple of local framers to recommend I will give the customer the choice. The print is one of Bob Dylans Drawn Blank series which have been our best selling ima...

Framer needed in Pinner

Hi, I have to send a fairly expensive limited edition print to a purchaser in Pinner. The customer has given me an idea of the frame he would like - double mount and a thinnish, flat profile solid aluminium frame. As the print is now sold out at the publisher, and has a published price of £1,250, I ...
