Cutting glass with the Keencut
New thread so as not to divert from "price check". Like J2M, do you find it easy to cut glass on the Keencut. Presuming 4000 and my 5000 are more or less the same do you sit it in there, score and ... then what please. Take it out to break or does it snap in situ. I notice the right hand s...

Re: Accuracy in making frames?
Ha Ha! Framers Radar - that sums it up. I dont really look at the artwork, my eyes go to the mitres and them I'm looking for overcuts etc. Is it self curing through experience, God forbid it gets worse.

What wedges please.
Quick one, if you've hard and medium wedges would you use hard for both hard and softer woods but not medium for hard woods. Do the two have different pulls, or does it matter as long as they go in. It's not a big job to change I know, more a question of knowing what's accepted practice.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Accuracy in making frames?
It probably comes with confidence Prospero, my frames are pretty good but any imperfection seems to gape at me. I'm still looking at the individual parts of the operation rahter than the wow of the finished product. I like the natural material comment, spot on.

Re: Accuracy in making frames?
For some reason it's always the last mitre with me that the error creeps in. Also at times the minigraf 4m clamping gear and side fences seem to obscure the external tip of the mitre, and I'm not yet doing enough to get to auto pilot. As a matter of course now I felt tip the inner faces of the mould...

I'm just reading an article from PFM where it talks of 4 and 8 ply board, can you just explain how that relates to UK board thicknesses please.

Re: v.small joint to fill
Thanks to all, there's some real meat to go at here. I've an unused set of blades so it's off with the old and on with the new to start with, then I'll follow the sequence mentioned by Robo if the problem persists.

Re: v.small joint to fill
Been sat thinking about this myself and coming to the conclusion it's cutting. If I can achieve 3 good corners the last has to absorb any deficiences. Looking closely at the morso the scribed mark and scale are not absolutely cock on on the left hand side, which might make the moulding flex back as ...

Re: v.small joint to fill
Thanks Alan - I'll note that, but in the event the black wax crayon has done it a treat, thanks again Robo. Against the black satin finish the wax buffs to a smashing match. I wouldn't mind an opinion on my last post in this topic though re wedge positioning.

Re: v.small joint to fill
Thanks Robo, can't find that wax on B & Q website, we're all frantically looking for the grand kids crayons. Incidentally, on the 47mm splay I've set 2 wedges at 14 and 38mm out from the rebate, could this account for it, ie pull at the wrong point? There could be something more fundamental, nar...

v.small joint to fill
One of the joints is ever so slightly open towards the front, thou's of an inch, ever so slightly but there. Has any one any tips for filling, it's unlikely that I'll be able to get hold of the amaco filler as in the Lion catologue in time, and I'm out of the moulding. I don't think a proper touch wo...

I'm using a Wizard 5000, in fact it was the first one sold in the country. It'll do 100% what I do but 75% of where I want to be. I am getting sweet b a by way of interest from the bank and cannot wait for Spring Fair when I can see all the top machines in action in one place.

Framing 3 parts of a newspaper article
Hope you get my drift.I'm to frame a 6x8 photo plus 2 newspaper reports / cuttings about a fellas golf success. The narratives were originally spread across the page but interspersed? with a couple of adverts, so whats arrived is a 8" x 8" block and 2 blocks about 2" x 3". I've s...

Tim,your post probably accounts for the lack of response to my Q on Home working - A nagging doubt . I doubt many home based framers and the bloke in the Village ever bothers - and why should he if he's adding to the tapestry and sustainability of your Village
