Re: Hot Press + Jigsaw

I use Dry Mount Film as opposed to tissue for this. Peel off one side of release paper and puncture film with roller Pop in press for 1.20 at 90 Take out and let cool. Peel off release paper and use this as a carrier to maneuver/slide the jigsaw in place. Then back in the press at 90 for a few minut...

Liquid Mercury inside Frame

Hi, So I've had an old frame in for re-mounting. (20 odd years old) Its a large photo -24" x 32" drymounted in some fashion (I never fully opened the sandwich) When I took off the backing board there were some beads of mercury in the frame rebate and appeared to be more inside the mount/gl...

Re: Lion's new chevrons

I'm open to correction, but your getting a chevron/Sample that would cost approx £4.00 in material (not including labour) for .50p I expect these are made in batches at speed. other suppliers (you know who they are) would charge you 1M List Price for a chevron = £ 7.52 for the same sample In that ca...

Re: Underpinner wedges leaning backwards

I find hardwood wedges stay closer to 90 degrees if its an issue for you.

Softwood wedges tend to slope back (I too heard that this is good)

Re: Calling all Irish Framers

Neil serviced my Morso and 299 underpinner today + a few other bits and bobs.

Brilliant job and a very nice person to deal with.

I'm having to force myself to stop making frames tonight as both are so sweetly calibrated and working so well.

Money well spent.

Thank you Neil

Re: Cassese 299 Clamp Problem

So using a bit of intuition and gut instinct I felt the issued lied around the clear tube going into the foot peddle (4) http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j173/absoluteframing/20150509_130445_zpsqqnmwtsx.jpg Started by taking off external cover http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j173/absoluteframing/...

Cassese 299 Clamp Problem

Hi, The clamps on my 299 are engaging as soon as i turn on the Machine. They are normally in neutral and only engage when either the foot-peddle is engaged or the Clamp Positioning button is turned to on. There is a video below to Illustrate the problem Any Help/Advice would be much appreciated http...

Re: Underpinner

I've had a 299 for the last 5 years.

Only had one problem with it in that time.

Mine has a double action foot pedal which turned into a single action foot pedal until it was repaired.

Other than that, No Problems and low maintenance to date !

Re: Framing a print to see edges

Ahh, I see said the blind man. :Slap:

Thanks Robo.

See how that is do'able for smaller pieces.

Think I'll stick with the hedgehog method for larger pieces though, one of which I've just finished

Re: Framing a print to see edges

I normally use the hedgehog method as discussed previously http://www.lionpic.co.uk/media/243086/how%20to%20do%20float%20mounting%20on%20heavy%20paper.pdf However, after reading the thread, I decided to try the pass through hinges (S Hinges), Got the job done, but had fierce problems/time delays mat...

Re: Handlacing Needlework

Have just started Lacing again due to customer requests. I have been using T-Pins for the last few years as I find it a lot quicker. I use these guys from Lion http://www.lionpic.co.uk/product/T-Pins-For-Stretching--200,8524,0.aspx & stretch over 3mm Acid Free Foam Board. For lacing I use cotton...

Re: Lacing & sewing kit

That looks great!

I normally use galvanised T-Pins and AF Foam Bd, but some new customers are requesting lacing.

Will take 1 kit - I'll send you a PM/email

Thanks,

Stephen
