Fit-Over hangers

Does anyone know where I can get some of these fit-over hangers? They fit 2mm boards and were sold by Lion but they have discontinued them. They describe them as Pozzi Fit-Over Hanger Nickel Plated 2174. I assume "Pozzi" was the original manufacturer? 2174 was Lion's code. I know there are...

Re: Morso F not cutting Vertically

Looks to me like your left hand piece (right in the 1st photo) is walking during the cut. This can happen with very dense woods and/or unsharp blades.

Re: Self Spacers

If you've got an Ultimat you can use it the wrong way round to cut accurate narrow strips. Use the T Bar on the opposite side of the machine. Once square and locked nudge the Measuring Arm along towards the end of the T Bar and use the Measuring Arm Stop to stabilise the T Bar arm.

Re: Texturing Gel?

We used to use good old PVA. It dried clear in those days, don't know if it still does. First layer was a thinner mixture with a large wallpaper type brush going only in horizontal and then vertical direction to give a canvas type under finish. Then a slightly thicker mixture to create the individua...

Re: Framers ONLY Facebook group - cool video about frame shop in a bus

Thank you. Great idea, very interesting, reminds me of the old days, out selling framed pictures from a van to retailers. Before town centres became pedestrian only. :D

Tried to join this group a few times but refuse to answer the questions requesting information about which suppliers you use and full name and address. Really? for a facebook group?

Re: Glue for Polycore moulding

Any Branded HV (High Viscosity) Super Glue. HV glue is thicker so doesn't run and has a slightly longer cure time, both ideal attributes for framing.

Re: MDF cutting problem

Thanks for all your replies. Greatly appreciated. Not your average framer - Thanks, the boards are stored in warm dry conditions, this aggravates the situation and I have to pre damp the boards a few days prior to cutting as this reduces the tearing during cutting. Will certainly have a go at pre he...

MDF cutting problem

Been using Keencut cutters for around 30 years to cut MDF, orginally a System 4000 now using an Excalibur. Lately I have had a problem cutting 2mm MDF which I use a lot of. The wheels are tearing the board. This only happens on one side of the cut. Initially I thought the wheels were blunt, so got a...

Re: Another gap issue

Is there anything on your morso bed? A paper measuring gauge perhaps?

Do you have a left hand extension on you morso, if so, check it is level with morso bed and it doesn't go higher than the bed.

Re: Thin black frames

Great advice. The Morso is a reliable and rugged machine and like any machine will take many years to master the various tweaks and adjustments needed to correct issues, its a skill like any other. Sharp blades are essential if you need micro accurate joins. If the blades are blunt the moulding will...

Re: Help with attaching picture in float frame

Of course, using double sided tape will seriously upset the conservation police, but having done so you have used a tape that is not up to the job. Double sided tapes are a fascinating subject if studied closely and available with many different carriers and strengths. You can get foam based tapes t...

Re: Polecore 2 part glue..

With Polcore I have found the best glue is a branded High Viscosity (thick) industrial Superglue. HV is is much better than lower viscosity because... It has a longer curing time, typically 30 seconds which gives time for alignment of mitres. It bridges the 'grain' gaps of polcore perfectly. It does...

Hi Roger,

Good to hear from you. Used to buy paintings from you back in the 80's, Good times. Don't sell everything... you will end up back in the picture business after a few years retirement, mark my words. :D

Re: Copyright

Derivative works can be an issue. I don't know the exact current legal stance but two issues I came up against (quite) a number of years ago... OS would not sell me maps because I told them I would be framing and re-selling them. A framed product is a derivative. A well known publisher would not all...
