Re: Lutz Blades - where from??

Sorry to hear that they rip you off on carriage for what should have been sent for the price of a stamp, rather a lack of goodwill. They do have quite a lot of consumables some of which are good prices, it looks as though they charge the same £10 for carriage whatever you have. There is so little su...

Re: Lion South shut

I was in the Birmingham shop last week and another customer was collecting a set of blades and leaving another set for for sharpening. The old days of wandering round and self service has gone, the new slimmer catalogue is glossy and colourful, but lacks the comprehensive feel of the previous 50. I ...

Re: indentify machine

That sounds like you are still trying to figure out how it works. Operating manuals for Euros are almost impossible to locate, as are spares! All of the pneumatic models are very similar and only need a small air supply of 10 - 20 litres. Repost as " help needed for Euro 9000 series underpinner...

Its a Euro, sadly a manufacturer long gone. You will find many posts on the forum and can identify the model hopefully from this ancient US entry:

Re: Marco Grassi’s hyper-realistic paintings

I hadn't come across these. They look fantastic. By contrast many recent photographic portraits I see all are spoilt by poor photoshop work on the eyes losing the spherical aspect, and lack of understanding of light resulting in" hypophotorealism".

Hello Victoria, I have just revisited Uppingham High Street East where I worked for several years courtesy of Streetview. How that area of town has changed! I would think you will do well with the types of artwork you are specialising in ( maybe worth adding maps). Neil Stout usually has a good rang...

Re: Notes on Mitre Trimmers (for novices?) by a novice

Hi Roy, A lengthy ramble, where a picture would have given much more information. Any cutting machine is only as good as its blade and how accurately it is set up. The mitre trimmers are all budget units from the Far East, they do a good job of sorting out a Nobex or other hand mitre saw cut. Just s...

Re: Photography Show March 21- 24th NEC

I went last year and have just checked the post show media online. The footfall is much more amateur photographer than Focus was. The trade stands are increasingly etailer dominant with lots of niche startups. I wonder how many will return next year. I am not surprised there is little picture framin...

Re: Advice with moving and servicing second-hand equipment

I would suggest downloading the manual from the Dan list website if your morso doesn't come with one. Pay particular attention to where the morso should be treated with lithium grease, and also safety notes around the blade area. There are you tube videos on use, and you should soon get started. The...

Re: bench top mitre guillotine

The Luna in the ebay ad is a badged Orteguil, basic model ORC 55. Mount it with a EZY measuring table from Lion and you will have a good basic set up. If you plan more than a dozen frames a week a foot operated unit would be much better, particularly for hard timbers.

Re: Polypropylene Paper

The reference would appear to relate to photographic papers rather than inkjet, checkout FF entries for ciba, ilfochrome from the past or fujiflex ( currently available) in the search area. Anything for your digital printer would be termed "film" for optimum smoothness, but most smooth glo...

Re: Dragged finishes

When scanning 3-dimensional items in a flatbed scanner you will get a better result by placing and tucking in a cloth above and around the object to reduce the shadows and maintain contrast. Remember the scan runs to the edges of the glass giving uneven all round shadows. Leaving the lid up,best to ...

Re: Best blade for a mitre saw...

I would suggest at least 80t, I am using Starrett blade on a smaller 216mm diameter saw and getting very clean results for around £30/35. The high end units are double mitre saws. There are recommendations for Freud blades, N negative rake for polymer and also one for aluminium, and P positive rake ...
