Website software

Hi all does anyone know of any web design software or web templates set up especially for picture framers? I am looking to start selling online and would like a website that allows customers to upload images to choose mouldings and mounts before ordering online. Any help greatly appreciated.

General State of Play

Hi all, just wanted to put this one out there.
In 3 words or less (possibly asking for trouble, I know) describe the picture framing business as you have experienced it in 2014

Re: chop service for rose and hollis moulding

Prospero, thanks for that. I have bought and taken back 4 saws so far and have more or less come to the conclusion I would have to spend the big bucks ( not an option) to go that route so would be interested to know which deWalt model you have found at that price with the fine accuracy.

Re: chop service for rose and hollis moulding

Thanks guys. Yes it seems only R+H do this moulding and I have asked for chop service before and been told they don't do it (was a while back tho' maybe I should ask again). On chop and join I was more thinking of getting a local framer to do that part of the job and invoice me then I would finish t...

Re: mounting mixed media work

Thanks Roboframer - very interesting article - just what I was looking for also take on board your additional points on beveling the edge of the foamcore etc. My clients edges are often very rough and distorted - all part of her work - so will need to get support as close to edge as possible without...

mounting mixed media work

Hi, can anyone offer any advice on a job I have just taken on please? It is for an established artist client who works in mixed media on paper producing heavily distressed and 'worked' abstract pieces which she wants framing in a simple shallow box frame. Good advice sim.on - not sure we have enough markets round about here to make it viable for me though.

Welcome - back? I had 2 years doing the same as you looking after our first following the last recession circa 1990. She's at uni. now. Make the most of it. As for getting back into business I'd say yes go for it, if it didn't put you off the first time. If I was starting out again I wouldn't go th...

Hi all Just thought I'd say a quick hello to intro myself. Thinking about starting up full time again. I had a reasonably successful high street frame shop once not so long ago (successful enough for the government to want a large chunk twice a year at any rate!) but sold up and have been stay at ho...
