Morso wanted!!

Hi - I am looking for a Morso (of any kind at the moment).

I have replied to those I have seen advertised, but a few are from a couple of months ago so I am assuming they have been snapped up.

If anyone is thinking about moving on and want to sell their current Morso at a competitive price, I ...

Re: Joining laminated wood moulding and there's a tiny gap!

Thank you very much - I had a feeling it was going to be a case of using something like that, but not having had to do anything like that as yet, I'm grateful for the advice!
p.s. would love to adjust my morso if i had one, but as I am just starting out, I'm a mitre saw and trimmer kind of gal! This ...

Joining laminated wood moulding and there's a tiny gap!

I have a wood moulding with a matt laminated dark red fininsh to it. As usual, it has been cut and trimmed fine and (as far as I was concerned!) accurately - but having pinned it together, there are 2 corners with slight gaps where the mitres are not quite coming together flush. It's only by a small ...

Re: Framing an original...

Thank you very much - I had searched the forum but nothing came up so thanks for the link, it was very useful.
The original tape just flaked off very easily (leaving lovely yellow marks unfortunately) so I can't use them as a protection, but good idea!

Framing an original...

I have been given the opportunity to take an original piece of artwork (a sketch on paper) by a French artist to re-frame, and as I am new to the framing business, would like to know the opinions of the forum on how to go about fixing the artwork.

From my training and experience so far I know that ...

Medal framing research...any recommendations?!

Evening all,
Any recommendations on where to start my research on medal framing? I'm looking for a comprehensive book/website with good advice on how to do it, best materials to use, mounting suggestions etc etc.
If anyone has found anything good, I'd love to know your recommendations! Many thanks.

Costs!

Evening Forum,
Interested to know your thoughts and processes in quoting for clients. For example, when ordering moulding do you charge the client for what they use (according to their measurements plus 20 percent for the natural wastage) or do you charge for what you have to order on the basis that ...

How do you frame a canvas that is deeper than the moulding?

Hi to you all again,
I have a canvas I need to frame and the moulding the client has chosen is not as deep as the canvas. I have obviously seen these done before, but I would love to know what the forum thinks about this and the best way of fixing the canvas within the frame that looks clean, and ...

Re: Advice on how to stop my frames pulling apart when pinne

Thanks again to you all for your support with this! Yes, it has been frustrating but some great advice which I will try out and see what works. I'd love a Morso so that's what I will work towards, just need a few more frames under my belt first! But all good ideas, and thanks again for the ...

Re: Advice on how to stop my frames pulling apart when pinne

Thank you so much to everyone for your replies - I really am very impressed and grateful that you have spent your time offering me advice, much appreciated. And I have to admit, I think you are all right! My trimmer is mitre trimmer so once I have cut the wood, I place it in the trimmer against the ...

Re: Advice on how to stop my frames pulling apart when pinne

Thank you so much for replying, yes I stayed with you throughout and I do think you are right actually. It did occur to me that it was maybe my trimmer that was slightly out, creating very, very small differentiations on the angle of each mitred corner, meaning when I put two together they looked ...

Re: Advice on how to stop my frames pulling apart when pinne

Thank you! I am pretty impressed to have received a reply so quickly! Yes, I am glueing the joins too, but that doesn;t seem to be helping keep them together. It's all a little frustrating as I know these are basic skills that I can do perfectly well, but I have somehow altered my technique and now ...

Advice on how to stop my frames pulling apart when pinned

I am fairly new to the picture framing business and have an issue with underpinning - and I would be very grateful for any advice! When I create my frames on basic equipment at the moment (pro-saw and trimmer) and when I under-pin my mitred wood in the studio joiner, the joins are perfect. However ...
