Re: D.I.T.H.
Jerome, do you not read the Grumble, it's a thread that's bean been discussed at length on there :o ... Peter. Hi Peter, Honestly, Jerome, like myself probably doesn't visit The Grumble much these days.... I can honestly say that I think I have visited it twice in the past year or so. Primarly as m...

Re: D.I.T.H.
If this fixing method "fails on the customer's perception element" and on the "framer perception element" then where does it succeed? and what's the point. :? Totally agreed! When we have customers who question what we do as professional picture framers, why would we opt for a t...

Agreed Jerry,
In addition to Louise from the FATG, we also got to see Keith Hewitt and Martin Harrold from Lion. Were there any others at WCAF from the Isles?

Re: methods to hang this type of frame to sit flush on wall?
I think Steve's idea would work fine - of course the two screws would have to be perfectly level on the wall. Another option would be to use a pair of Wallbuddies . But mount them "inside out" - I suggest this as I see that you have a large recess behind the moulding so that the Wa...

Re: Get your free window vinyl to help grow sales.
I have a strong suspicion that we will see one of these window clings on every Rental Car that Keith hires in the next year or two!
BTW - I requested 5 clings for my staff and our shop. Thanks Keith.

Re: Morso fence alignment
I am following this thread with interest as we have a 40 year old Morsø that I recently "tweaked". Attempting to get better mitred corners. We used this machine since we purchased it new in 1978, and cut a fair amount of moulding in the 80's-90's. We actually went through three sets of bla...

Re: Framing with low-end equipment
Thanks for those two replies. Saving money is a smaller part of my motivation. A much bigger motivation is to be able to say to customers "I make everything myself". Yes I know I'm not making the mouldings but to be able to say that I make the frames in this way will be very satisfying to...

Re: Need your views and opinions
...I think you're confusing generic advertising with branding strategy. There are plenty of companies that have a branding strategy which promotes a lifestyle, for instance, that they want their customers to associate with, and they spend millions of pounds promoting that association. But I cannot ...

Re: Need your views and opinions
Very sorry John, but your statement "Regarding a generic message not benefiting my business, that is nonsense! " is let down with the example image you have posted, It's right out side your shop and has your shop name on it... Steve, Of course it is branded but my point in posting that im...

Re: Need your views and opinions
Complete the picture... get it framed! Search for Bespoke Picture Framers in your area. I like it. As previously mentioned, the message has to be short and sweet and get into the head of the potential client. Regarding a generic message not benefiting my business, that is nonsense! Each of us do NO...

One can interpret the results differently....
I think that one might compare the jars of product on the shelf to how many mouldings you present to a customer, rather than the number of mouldings that you carry in inventory....

Re: Vinyl Album
Making corner blind straps as John McAfee suggested in the link make sense for holding the Record Jacket in position. I would probably juse clear Mylar straps and the job is almost invisible. As far as anchoring the vinyl LP itself, I would simply pass a book post through the hole in the center. Mak...

Re: Back of oil paintings
Cliff, I was equally as amazed that I couldn't find them in the UK...even got an email reply from one of the larger store and online Artist Materials suppliers with negative results. Guess I'm surprised as these have been around since the 1980's.... they are easy to use...and work! :) When you do us...

I haven't come across 'Clip-Its' in UK Framing catalogues or Google. Do they have any other name or identified by the manufacturer's name? Thanks Cliff Cliff, Here they are being sold on Amazon Online ... Listed as a Moore product??? https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRxYdaa0Y_R3...

Re: Back of oil paintings
Sorry for the late response... (just saw this thread, as in December, I am swamped!) :D When fitting a stretched Canvas into a frame, one product we like to use are "Clip-Its", which I would assume that at least one UK supplier might have these. They don't do any damage to the canvas or th...

Re: Need your advice ! What should I do ?
Tough one Keith... Some artists have a good understanding of conservation framing methods while others entrust those skills to a capable framer who knows what they are doing. However, some artists only see the bottom line price as a potential barrier to the sale, and disrespect their own original wo...

I know that plastic moulding has been around for a long time now.... - It looks fantastic these days with some great finishes! - From 5 feet or 5 inches away, can you really tell the difference! But in truth it is still plastic... In 39 years, we have never brought in any outside of customers bringi...
