easel strut backs

Does anyone know if there are suppliers here in the UK that can produce these according to a specific size or would these need to be manufactured abroad? I'm specifically looking for a hinged style heavy duty cardboard strut back with a rear access door to hold a 6x4" photo/picture within a han...

Fabric print in a frame...most suitable method?

I have a fabric print that I wish to apply directly onto the backing board of a 12"x10" frame. I have a thin layer of 5mm sponge under the fabric. I could use just fabric glue to apply both of these, but think using a staple gun might be a better option for a long term hold. I'm thinking o...

Framing a 7" vinyl sleeve...most suitable method

As some of you are aware, I'm not a framer but more of a crafter. I buy the majority of my frames from either high street retailers or online framing shops. I have some of my own 7" vinyl art that would like to frame. These vinyl sleeves actually include an imitation vinyl made of a very thick ...

Re: Best method of cleaning up the back of this frame

I can't seem to edit any of my earlier posts as I would of added this. I didn't want to create a new post but have no other way. I didn't realise how easy it was to cut the foam using a stanley knife. I've had issues with thick foam in the past and thought the foam wouldn't cut cleanly. However, wit...

Re: Best method of cleaning up the back of this frame

many thanks for your reply. I suppose I could do that and hadn't thought about it before, but upon testing with a random smaller backboard, it doesn't give me enough space to apply tabs especially over the hot glue blobs. They are just raised a little too high from the current backboard. If it were ...

Best method of cleaning up the back of this frame

I've mentioned in a previous post that I am using a particular deep boxed frame from a high street retailer for specific sculptures that I am make. I've been testing various methods of keeping the sculpture in place but each one involves wire as part of the sculpture includes wire elements. It is a ...

Re: Most suitable boxes/packaging for this deep box frame

thanks everyone for your replies. It's given me quite an insight with regards to the recommended companies and what they offer. For a handful of frames I've sold in the past, i have tended to use vinyl record stiffeners as that is what I had lying around normally in good quantities. These work out a...

Re: Most suitable boxes/packaging for this deep box frame

I've always buy my bespoke boxes from https://www.ascdirect.co.uk. You do need to order 25 at a time, but they work out quite cost effective and using their 'box builder', you can choose the exact type and size. I tend to size my boxes so that there is at least a 2 inch gap all the way around the b...

Most suitable boxes/packaging for this deep box frame

I have a generic thick box frame measuring 27cm x 27cm x 6cm (depth). The front is styrene. Im in the process of setting up some listings for some of my art sold in these frames but before I do I want to buy the most appropriate packaging. I need a suitable double walled box and would probabaly use ...

unfinished wood craft frames

I'm just wondering if anyone on here has supplied or thought about supplying unfinished wood for crafting ideas such as picture frames and mirrors. There is a massive crafting community but very few decent suppliers. The majority of these frames end up getting produced in europe probably because woo...

Re: Best solution for 1cm space between art and backboard

sorry for the delay in replying everyone. Many thanks for your feedback and ideas. I think I will go with just using 1cm foamcore. The issue I had was I often see a slight bend in foamboard but if cutting these into small squares then obviously it shouldn't be an issue. My main issue would be cuttin...

Best solution for 1cm space between art and backboard

I have some square pieces of art (approx 20cm x 20cm) on heavy 400gsm card stock that are to be placed into square 25cm deep frames. I am trying to float the art from the backboard, so would like the art to be raised by 1cm. I could purchase 1cm thick foamboard and cut a smaller square piece, say 15...

Bespoke mounts

I have deep boxed frames intended for a variety of uses, but a new idea I thought of was inserting a mirror aswell. The plan was to have the mirror cut to the size of the backboard and insert it directly into the frame, but the mirror weighs 1kg and isn't suitable for the type of frame I'm using. I'...

Re: What are the usual standard sizes for panoramic frames and panoramic photos.

I can't talk from a framers perspective, but from a crafter and artist's perspective, I believe there will be more demand for panoramic frames over time although its still quite niche. I had been considering getting a sublimation printer. These have opened up a whole new world in terms of being able...

Re: Looking for panoramic deep box frames

Thanks Mark. I believe I know what you mean as ordered a deep box frame from a supplier in the past and it came as you mention. The types I buy from a large online supplier are just a very deep frame of about 6.5cm. However, it's square, and I was looking for a panoramic thin style to suit a narrow ...

Is shrink wrapping frames worthwhile?

I've got a few new frames I'm in the process of making. Originally I used to sell art in frames but have moved onto signage in frames. I just wondered how feasible using heated shrink wrapping is to present the final frame when sending out to customers. Is it worthwhile or just an extra time and cos...

Re: Looking for panoramic deep box frames

You might get a bit further with this by talking about target prices and order quantities to sell if someone gets interested in supplying you. I'm not sure how hopeful this may be, since there's not that many suitable deep mouldings about which are going to be advantageously priced and the resultin...

Looking for panoramic deep box frames

I might of probably put this post up some years ago, but again on the lookout. I've been struggling to find a suitable supplier of deep box frames. I've been making some wall signs recently that would look really good framed. They are a little different from the norm as I intend to have a little fig...

White backing boards with hanging fixings

Is there anywhere I can source 10"x 12" white backing boards with a hanger fixing such as saw tooth or similar that would allow me to get it relatively flush to a wall? I'm not actually using these for part of a frame and instead was to mount something very light onto them then hang on a w...

Re: what type of rigid tab is used here?

Thanks for the above comments. I went on to Lions and see the same logan framers tool F400 i used to have. I think i used it once. I see you can also use semi rigid flexipoints. I guessing this might do the trick but the tool is a fair bit more than when I purchased. Comes in at about £60 then the p...
