Waste glass disposal.

Morning all,

Not sure if this has been covered before but was wondering what eveyone else does with their waste glass. We used to have it collected free by a recycling firm (in old clean oil drums) they no longer are in business and we're stuggling with what to do with it.

Just spoke to a local ...

workshop docket?

Hi,

We're looking at buying bbest this month,we do have a question though. Can we print off a "Job ticket" for the workshop as well as for the customer.

We can't seem to find anything relating to this in the help section etc,so apologies if this is a silly question

Thanks the replies all, some very interesting ideas there, must admit I've never considered hand finishing due to volume of "Want it quickly" customers we seem to get.

How do you sell this to Joe Public?,obviously the cost will be greater,do you folks that offer this presently find much resistance ...

We recently added a couple of Valiani mountcutters to the work shop (amongst other new goodies) to improve productivity and now we are SO efficient that we've caught up with all our work! .
Our usual three week diary is now empty and we're twiddling our thumbs until the summer rush ...

You'll never believe this......

Hi all,

We were happily working away on a customers large pastel this afternoon when we heard a "noise" ,on looking up noticed a (large!) blackbird had got into the workshop and was batting way at the non opening windows the landlord kindly gave us.

After the usual "hoots and hollers" we thought ...

You know, after reading all the above advice,it's amazing how much is just common sense, but that's the problem with it,it ain't very common!.....at least in our workshop.

Seriously, thanks to all for the advice, this will really help us in our never ending battle against that great enemy of our trade ...

Over/under cuts on multi appertures

'Morning all

We have a Keencut gold and really, really struggle to set it up to get good cuts on multi apps, I.E. not overcut at the end of cut.
The manual says to set the start cut finger to zero....which is great to startthe cut ,but then it's really hard to guestimate where to finish.(of course ...

Resolved the problem by......

Hi all,

We fixed the above problem!,and although the answer is pretty obvious now it didn't strike us as important at the time.

Basically, the rebate clamp (which we don't use, does anyone?) cable needed a lot more tension applying to assist the top pusher to return. It's not immediately obvious ...

My (new!) Casesse underpinner

Hi all,

Shiny new Casesse CS 88 arrived in the workshop last week,it's now all set etc and we already have a problem.....

Basically, each time we do a mitre the presser head drops a little,so by the fourth one the frame won't go under it. Now,I know this sounds like "sumat loose lad" but ...

Hi John,

Yep,that's exactly the proposal!,after the bond,I want to achieve a protective surface to the images, and then block 'em. I know I should be looking to use a laminate but the business is new and doesn't stretch to that sort of expense yet.

Thanks,Mike.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies both, although it's not a serious problem for this particular customer, here in the deepest, darkest part of Wales lots of older houses have condensation issues, and we're seeing loads of work being bought in for a reframe and spruce up with this concern.

Removal of mildew on prints.....

'Morning all,

Is there any way to neutralise/remove mildew from old prints etc?. Some of the ones we see have a type that just brushes off,but most have the usual black spots.

I guess that once it's taken hold it's going to be hard achieve a visual improvement, but the big question is can it be ...
