Re: Glass & sheet cutting

Its all in the ear. Something will just click someday and you'll wonder what all the fuss is about. Its hard to describe the sound rather than to say that to me its like a ripping of sheets kinda sound but you will get to know it with practice. I would be interested to hear how my peers would descri...

Re: Leaflet Drops

[quote="Jonny2morsos"]Thanks for the PM. I was interested in to read Sinbad's "on the knock" method but in this area most streets have these signs up: My approach is quite simple. I have a framed picture portrait offer which is my lead and core product. Priced very well with 80% ...

Re: Leaflet Drops

Like Robo above but I still work from home and do my own leaflet drops but with a difference. I go on the knock. I introduce myself where ever possible as the local picture framer bla bla bla. If they're engaging then I continue my pitch. If they're not I simply thank them for their time and give th...

Re: Starting out..... help needed!

I have been doing the framing for a local print shop for a long time now. The guy has his own framing equipment but not the skills or the time to do it all himself. He subs the work out to me. He actually supplies the moulding that is to be used. I charge for my time, glass and boards. It works well...

Re: underpinning a mould with a groove/bevel

You can easily make a handy little gizmo to help with some slopey profiles. Cut a piece of thick ply in a triangle shape. About 4" wide, base to apex. Stick a cork floor tile to one side. You slide this onto the slope section so you get the apex over the wedge insertion point and it will grip ...

Re: Obeche Vs Ayous

Its a no brainer for me to choose. It would be the one at £2.10/m every time. Then again I was recently asked what was my fovourite wine and to everyones amusement I answered 3 for a tenner..........

Re: Glass & sheet cutting

I collect my sheets cos its handy for me. I have them cut in half (3'x2'). Much easier to handle. Also I use a T square and oil cutter. I do keep full sheets in stock though just in case.

Re: Glass for large frame

On a serious note though, give the customer all the price options and let them decide. How did it get broken would be a question to ask and assess the risk of it happening again. Prehaps a safety/perspex/acrylic glass is better suited.

If it were me in that situation I would have all the photos re printed. Then you could mount them any way you want without fear of damaging the originals
