I had a very similar collapse 2 or 3 years ago, surprisingly the amount of moulding damage was minimal but the worst part of the whole thing was having to empty the racks completely so I could re-attach the brackets to the wall more securely.
Good luck

Re: Framing spectacles
Hollow punches such as those used to make holes in leather belts also work well on mount board and start of at 1 or 2 mm diameter up to 10 or more.

Re: framing without mounts
I've used Lion FrameTek EconoSpace Self Adhesive Spacer, cat.no. 2729 for years, works very well.
This will solve the issue of attaching the spacer to the glass but all the other points that Prospero mention are still valid.

Re: Pricing software
There really needs to be a straightforwad iPhone or iPad based pricing software. A downloadable app would be great. I use an MS Excel spreadsheet for all my pricing. It is relatively basic and pricing is calculated purely on materials cost and mark up. There is provision to add a specific amount to...

Thanks for that, I thought I'd lost what little I had left of my sense of proportion !drpeej wrote:Sorry - I meant 8m not 18! Still pretty big!
Is there any way to edit my own posts?
No problem getting it in as long as the door is higher than 2m.
Quite impressive !

Re: GLASS SIZE TYPE
I know the experts will be along shortly but for what my contribution is worth, my first reactions are - 1 - I'd be a bit nervous about using 2 mm at that size, all depends on size of frame / subframe. 3 mm would be heavy. I'd be tempted to look at acrylic options like artshield. 2 - Lion Keyhole He...
Re: Glass
Thanks, YPF. TBH I'll probably just stick to normal glass, the priority stuff being so expensive... people quite like looking at themselves after all. Regards to the doggies. Just checked the Wessex cut to size calculator, a piece of 40*50cm UV70 comes in at £11.80 (plus vat and delivery of course)

iZettle variable rate plans I've been using iZettle for a couple of years and have been happily paying 2.75% on each transaction until I noticed 1.75% in this thread. I checked with iZettle and was advised you can opt for the lower fixed fee of 1.75% in the settings menu, now done ! but be careful ...

Re: Anyone received any Arqadia invoices yet?
The new Arqadia/Larson-Juhl price list is shocking. Why split up mouldings into their collection categories?! It makes no odds to me what collection they come from. It used to be dead easy to find a moulding but now its almost as difficult as navigating the Simons price list! This LJ rebranding has...

Re: Mouldings/mountboard to practice on...
Hi Cleaver
Whereabouts in Surrey are you?
I'm just north of Farnham and can let you have a selection of various board off cuts in a size which is big enough to practice on, like from A4 ish to i/4 sheet.
Please feel free to give me a call, numbers on my web site.

Re: Over cuts on mounts.
my Valiani Matpro, pneumatic cutter does not have any over or under cuts, same would go for any CMC I guess. The action of the head id such that when you hit the engage button the blade enters the board exactly at the start of the cut and on release the blade comes out at exactly the end of the cut,...

Re: Anyone received any Arqadia invoices yet?
I've only had one order on LJ since the rebranding and went to Bedford to collect because of the delivery issues.
I have'nt received an invoice by post as I normally would have but it is available online under the "customer service" "my account" headers at the top of the page.

Re: Pricing for larger orders - 50+
Assuming this turns out to be a genuine enquiry with no snags or funny business as has gone before, then... Putting the volumes into perspective, lets say 50 frames 20*16 at a nominal, say £20 each. That's £1000 worth of orders and multiple sizes in similar quantities start adding up to a substantia...

I'm with Rainbow on this one, go check a few ready made's, it's horses for courses.
Better still, go to your local photographic shop and ask them to fit a photo into one of their RMF's for you, but don't run away when the sellotape comes out !

Mobile card readers are a great tool to have, just check your mobile signal is ok ! I currently have iZettle and they charge a nominal 2.75% per transaction. SumUp sounds reasonable at 1.69% Last weekend I had to pay an emergency plumber using SumUp, you could say it was used in anger ! outrageous c...
