Re: anyone tried ImageClar AR™ from cresent?
Hi all.... ImageClear is just regular (not UV) Artglass. Crescent/Britannia get it from their German people. We (Wessex-G&M) import the whole ArtGlass range - 2mm and 3mm in regular and UV plus 4.4mm laminated and large sizes. We do all of them in cut-to-size too. I know that we are only 'compet...

Re: Diffused and Reflective Control, what's the difference?
Sorry, a bit late into this topic - but you do seem to have sorted it pretty well! Our new 'Water-white' (more correctly, 'low-iron') float glass is indeed just regular float with no green tinge at all. It really does make a difference, particularly on bright artwork and white, cream or warm-coloure...

Re: What Glass????????
Hey! You folks are really getting the hang of it ....   Going back to the original post, the requirement was for just the one product and the priority was clarity over UV filtering. In my view, that rules out TV Museum. I agree with Roboframer - go for the clearest, easiest to cle...

Re: Toughened / Laminated Non Reflective Glass?
I seem to be near-redundant on this one, as you lot have pretty well sorted it out. However.... terminology is the problem: 'non reflecting' should be a "non-term" as regards glass for framing - please do not use it! - it can only lead to confusion and pain. There's diffused reflection (ma...

Re: Plexi
Hi ... as long as the frame has a decent rebate depth, 2mm Acrylic will be fine. We advise 3mm at about 1sq metre upwards. We sell 2mm at £25/sq m (about Eu28) cut to size and delivered here in UK. That would give a price per piece for your size of £12 (Eu14) We would not advise use of styrene sheet...

Re: Crescent Image Clear AR Glass
Hi ... this is Crescent's name for our (regular) Artglass. We (Wessex/Glass & Mirror) have a wider range of sizes and also the UV version - and in packs of 4 sheets it's a fair bit cheaper too. Also available cut-to-size. Very nice glass, neutral reflectance and an 'easy-clean' finish that reall...

Re: conservation and museum glass
Hi.... For basic 'conservation' glass at present there's only TruVue's Conservation Clear. It filters 98%+ UV, is fairly cheap and widely available from UK wholesalers. It comes in 2 sizes (48x36 & 60x40 inches) and in packs of 4 or 2 sheets respectively. We (Wessex Glass & Mirror) also offe...

Re: Glass question
Hi ... Glass & Mirror (now Wessex Glass & Mirror Group) do still offer a waste glass recycling service (to regular customers only). In order to comply with the waste regulations, you do need to register and pay a small fee. Contact them for details ... sales@glass-mirror.co.uk

Re: glass quality?
Hi to all the framers confused by the subject of this thread. As regards 2mm clear glass (and as indicated by wessexpictures too), there's sheet (spelt with 2 'e's, pronounced with a 'i') or float glass - period. The 'structured' pricing - if it relates to 2mm clear FLOAT, can only reflect (sorry! a...

Re: Re-inforced Glass
Hi ... this is a very common issue. Technically, when glass is toughened it should be identified as such by the Processors. This shows that it is toughened, by whom and to which standard. It also (should) stop some silly B trying to cut it. (It will explode into tiny pieces if you do). All you need ...

Re: Vivian Kistler died Jan 6th
So sorry to hear that, Keith - and thanks for the post. Vivian was due to give Seminars at the Spring Fair in February (as am I!!). She was a lovely lady and a great advert for our industry too. We had some nice times together over the years.

Re: Arqadia Claryl Glass
Hi, Moglet... To be fair to Claryl, their cleaning methodology is exactly as I would advise for all coated AR-type glass. I was referring to questions raised as to whether this really works on Claryl compared with, say Mirogard. Claryl is produced using a new 'nanotechnology' process to apply a sing...

Re: Arqadia Claryl Glass
Hi ... Claryl is a low-reflectance/high transmission product, i.e it is designed to let pass (transmit) the maximum amount of visible light (in the 400-750nm wavelengths). Low-reflectance glasses achieve this by a) special coatings to reduce reflectance and b) use of low-iron ('water-white') glass s...
