Re: TAURUS!!! How many users are members? Setup & repair inf

OK ALL - I think I got the message loud and clear.... nobody is using Taurus! Good underpinners though. :-)

Re: Wanted Taurus Underpinner working or not

Yeah - Taurus are a pain to get a response from - you need to stand on your head and ask them if they are closing down. That got me a short reply. I suspect they are really just a manufacturer trying to support their agents. They don't appear to like 'user' enquiries much - if at all. Maybe they are...

TAURUS!!! How many users are members? Setup & repair info???

cheers to all, Can anyone else provide some Taurus experience?? I would never want to be a custom framer as I have a penchant for doing my own thing. I prefer to create and then sell the framed product. Recently this included acquiring 3 old Taurus 292DE machines. One as a spare parts machine. So......

Re: How to cut wide mouldings - 130mm

cheers, All cool thanks! Another friendly local framer uses a drop saw for hard gesso mouldings. Some of the models are very rigid and accurate in their angle stops now & carbide blades are amazing. I am only a bunny at this framing lark, but it seems possible one could cut the 110-130mm mouldin...

How to cut wide mouldings - 130mm

Hi all, I've bought some bulk wide resin moulding 110 and 130mm wide. Most guillotines can cut up to 100mm readily but after that things appear to get more difficult, requiring saws. If the rebate supports were removed it looks like 110mm might be possible to cut on a guillotine with rebate support ...

Re: last cut....help

Other ideas - Just before making cuts - 1. place moulding in guillotine and soft mark the cut region on the moulding (white board marker - or chalk/pencil) and remove from guillotine uncut - 2. then place framing tape placed tightly around the moulding at 90 degrees on the intended cut area -...

Re: last cut....help

Appealing to the molding manufacturers could only work with the ethical ones at best - if that! :-( I don't know anything about gesso mixtures, but all good resin binders (be they urea glues, epoxy, car bog etc) cost heaps and using fillers to extend them is the only salvation. If moulding manufactu...

Re: last cut....help

cheers to all :-) Sorry for long techy first post... ;-) I've just setup a Jyden electric guillotine after converting it to single phase and the test pieces I used for first cutting were Chinese 20mm stretcher bar. It is a type of cedar (though the seller called it pine) with practically zero cross ...
