Re: Framing A Beret
That looks ok. Try it flat with the beret badge at the far left hand side and it flopping over. The beret is worn with the badge sitting over the left eye so it finds a natural "Flop" if you like with the badge at the left when it is folded and put in your trouser belt.
Hope this is helping and not ...

Re: Framing A Beret
(Being ex-forces) If the beret has been worn it will have already found the shape of the person's napper!! :D I personally think that if it has, then tag it flat the way that it wants to lay naturally with a deep mount.
It has now given me the idea to dig out my old Navy one and have a go.

Interested in your Oval cutter if you want to sell separately?
What one is it and what price would you be looking for?

Re: Watercolour Problem
Thanks for the replies guys, you have just confirmed my fears. I did say to the lady that this wouldn't be too easy!
Like the idea of the gold ruled lines J2M. The chap or chappess that framed it before put a rather lovely pencil (as in carbon) line round the mount :Slap: . The whole thing stinks ...

Watercolour Problem
Hi folks
I'm in need of a little advice. A customer brought in the watercolour below and would like it re-framed. It is actually a very nice piece but whoever framed it before (looks like around the 50's/60's) has gummed the paining to the backboard. You can't actually see it in the photo but the ...

The sooner we all decide not to use such mouldings, the sooner suppliers will learn to leave this junk out of their catalogue ranges.
I wish I had read this article 3 weeks ago!! Moulding is now firewood!

Re: Another new frame
Hi Andy from another Andy.
Welcome. I'm new here also.
Like you, I have a Morso guillotine but an M4 underpinner. I have an Ultimat Gold Mountcutter and to be honest you can't really go wrong with it. Once it's set up, apart from changing the blades at regular intervals it's pretty much plain ...

Re: Moulding Chipping
Here is a photo fo the problem. When cutting it, it looks fine. Only when I took it out of the pinner that I saw the chipping. It may well be that it is just cheap. It is chipped on all but one of the corners.
Jonny, what is the new moulding you have come across?

Moulding Chipping
I have used the arqadia moulding below for the first time and have noticed that it is chipping during the pinning process. I wondered if anyone has used this moulding and come across the same problem? If so, is it me causing it (too much pressure ???) or is it a common problem with this type of ...

West of Scotland Newbie
Hi folks,
Another newbie here. I have been skulking around here for a few weeks reading up on the wealth of knowledge that is on here.
My name is Andy. I have not long left the forces and decided to set up framing as a part-time venture and see how it takes off. I have to admit that I actually ...
