Over a period of time a heavier thread may cut through the tapestry fabric - if the thread is weaker it will give before the actual piece. I actually don't get much trade from the tourists re. framing - the occasional ones will bring stuff with them to get framed if they are here for a couple of wee...

Hi Pat Being in much the same position distance wise from the nearest city - I agree about overheads etc not being high. As well as that, wages are not as high so people can't afford to pay so much - there are a few that can, but generally most are not earning the average uk wage or round about that...

Hi again Sorry for the delay in getting back to this post - usual hogmanay/New year visits etc to deal with, plus denial about having to get my nose back to the grindstone! My suppliers are Pearsons glass based in East Kilbride - 01355230175 - worth giving them a ring - I let them know a few weeks b...

This was forwarded to me by a friend - please read it as it is the kind of call that could easily catch you out if distracted!  This one is pretty slick since they provide Y O U with all the information, except the one piece they want.Note, the callers do not ask for your card number; ...

The chevron width is a common one here - people often ask if that is it or can I make it smaller! :?

I also used to work in the tourism industry and was once asked on a phone call from a caller from across the water - what the weather forecast was for next August - this was in September! :P

Funnily enough, I had to get a replacement chop order frame the other day for the first time:due to warping - I had hoped it might straighten out when pinned together but,no. With chop orders, I would expect a replacement as you are paying more and the supplier should be including an allowance for s...

Well, have got it all together - quite a large one - 866x742, and it looks pretty good - a tiny bit of filler needed on the slip mitres but otherwise a satisfying result - waiting till the morning to finish all the pinning just in case of any lurking dust! Should sleep better now! Thanks for y...

thanks for that - the slip will be outside the glass - I hoped that would be the answer I got - feel a bit more confident about actually putting it together now! Slips on frame

I have been asked by a customer for a gold slip to be put in a elm veneer frame - this is my first time doing slips and the only info I can find on the subject is applying slips to mounts! I have the slips cut, but wondered what is the best way to attach them to the made frame - there is not a lot o...

Hi Being a small one-woman business with not a lot of available space, I use the Kimberley underpinner - I've not used anything else so have no comparison, but the thing I like about it is there is nothing to go "wrong" with it - it's just a solid piece of kit! As I said, I've never had th...

Hi folks Thought I'd pass this on - got a mirror in today - approx 3x4ft with a large moulding - (about 4 inches )for repair. It fell off a wall when the cotton  string broke - onto a granite fireplace!! The whole bottom length of moulding broke off but, the mirror didn't break! I think that ...
