Re: How to float Japanese prints on translucent paper
It's not true that you can't apply hinges to the reverse of translucent paper, but you have to be smart about how you do it. First of all, you will need to be very careful about the colour of your hinging paper and the colour of the mountboard behind your prints. If you can lay a sample of your hin...

Re: How to float Japanese prints on translucent paper
Not sure what a 'platform' mount is to be honest! Can you explain please? The edges do need to be visible on these.Jamesnkr wrote:Would a platform mount work? Do you need to show the edges of the prints?

Re: How to float Japanese prints on translucent paper
Yes, I am very wary about applying adhesive to this type of paper, even in very small amounts. The idea of placing them onto suede mountboard could be a good option. Why would you recommend using acrylic glass over regular glass and what thickness would you suggest? I guess 3mm has far less flex tha...

How to float Japanese prints on translucent paper
I have a collection of Japanese prints to float mount and frame and wondered if Methyl Cellulose or possibly Wheat / Rice starch adhesive would be suitable to attach these to mountboard? The paper is very thin and translucent so using any kind of tape is out of the question. Not sure if it is rice p...

Framiac versus Estlite?
I'm considering one of the above software products.
I'd just like to get some opinions on each?
Many thanks,
FifeFramer

How to price mounts effectively
I'm not currently using software to price framing so I'd like some advice on how to price picture mounts so that a fair price can be achieved across all sizes. At the moment, I put a mark up on the board and charge a small set labour fee per mount but it's difficult to get a balanced price for diffe...

How to mount 35 mm thick candles in a box frame
I have 3 fairly heavy candles that measure 35 mm in diameter that need to be held in place from the base in a box frame I'm making. The customer would like these to be removable for possible future use!!!!! I think there would need to be some sort of spike used to hold them but does anyone have any ...

How to hinge a Japanese woodblock print?
I have a very thin and very old Japanese woodblock print to float mount (edges to be visible). Although the paper is thin it is fairly opaque and I thought about using gummed Japanese hinging paper in small strips at various points on the back. Can anyone offer any expert advice on this please? Many...

7" Swept Frame For Sale
I have a 7" antique swept frame for sale. It measures 30.5" x 43" and was made by John Mathieson & Co of Edinburgh. It is in reasonable order but would benefit from restoration. The frame previously housed a portrait of Andrew Carnegie and is very impressive. Due to the fragile na...

Minigraf-4 3 Position Machine For Sale
I have for sale a 3 position Minigraf 4 (including 2 wing supports). The machine was purchased in 2004 but has not been used for around 5 years (has been stored boxed during this period) and is in good condition. The machine requires an adjustment to the alignment of the nail carriage to be fully fu...
