For many years I've used a Brother QL-560 label printer. It only prints in Black but is great for what I need. You can get different size rolls of paper.

Re: Gilding for Dummies

Thank you Dermot. As I like a crib sheet to refer back to, without spending time searching, I've copied your instructions and put them up as a PDF file. I've attached a copy in case it is of use by others (hope you don't mind). Obviously , although the links work today there is no guarantee they wil...

Re: Best way to easily and neatly cut 4mm plywood.

I would have thought the bandsaw was the most practical as you can use a fence tokeep lines straight. A scroll saw should produce a better cut but more difficult to keep straight and would take longer.

Re: Reusing existing frames

Perhaps someone can persuade 'The Repair Shop' to do a proper job of repairing a frame and demonstrating what's involved. They normally get one of their experts in other skills to 'fix' frames.

Re: Poster stuck to glass

The implication is that the poster is not valuable (if the customer agrees to cutting). Worth checking because you don't want him/her coming back saying you didn't warn him/her about loss of value - get a written disclaimer.

The only place that I could find a hit for this book in the UK is with Lion Pictures - but they are out of stock. Anyone know of any other supplies?

Re: Framing an old family crest - Hinge mounting?

I don't know about the origins of this document but often these family crests are produced by companies that market such items and are therefore available for reprints. The accuracy of the contents of the documents may be questionable (as far as genealogy and heraldry is concerned) but this is not t...

Using the suggestions above work with the artist to come up with the best solution for them - they are more likely to continue using you as their framer.
