Re: Hello from Newby. Underpinner advise needed please.
Thanks Mark. I bought a Signature Cathers 48" mountcutter. It all came as a package from a retiree who used to frame his own prints. Not sure if he actually sold much but he's kept the equipment in great shape.

Re: Hello from Newby. Underpinner advise needed please.
Hi guys, sorry I forgot I was on this and just saw this now. As an update I have managed to get hold of a Morso, a cs88 and a mount cutter. I still have my orteguil. It is a great machine but I can't see myself needing it much longer. I may put it up or sale. I have spare blades also which I'm happy...

Re: Mounting times
Hi propspero, do you have a carithers signature mountcutter too?
I'm sorry, I wish I could understand what you mean. Sorry, I'm new to this and am not familiar with many things.

Re: Mounting times
Hi Alan, I bought a second hand 48" Carthiers Signature mountcutter. I had no idea on how to use it but after 4 hours of playing, and moving quickly onto testing on paper I did manage to get one cut. I had to do a lot of manual minor adjusting to get it just right. I've realised with mounts the...

Re: Ways of reducing of costs of being in business
Hmm, that would explain a lot. Before I used to drink Stella to relax, now I just go for a run :) Stella is not called "wife beater" for nothing. I thought it was a load of B******** until I spoke with a very experienced barmaid 8) and she told me that it is true that Stella does have extr...

Re: Ways of reducing of costs of being in business
Nice, perhaps if I ever do become gout free I'll start brewing too. If there are any other gout sufferers out there I find cherry active capsules a great way to detoxify and remove all the excess uric acid. And the shandy was only with a Budweiser for the puratins. Stella Artois also seems to be one...

Never tasted sh*t myself however as a gout sufferer its that or nothing and it does seem to lessen the attacks.
Oh how I miss that ale.

Re: Markup on materials
Hi Guys, I am totally new to this but thought I should add that I spoke with Daljit at Lions Hayes (the guy is a legend and very helpful). He told me a simple rule. He said whatever you buy, triple it. That's what you charge. Note he said whatever you buy, not whatever you sell. So if you're buying ...

        Would have loved to see the face of the customer. The only thing I would say we should be careful of is getting protective and having the customers think we are actually threatened by an IKEA or M&S frame. It was because of IKEA that furniture s...

Re: Resizing a Ikea frame
Just saw is. What a funny post. This guy has a lot of time on his hands. And to see how many he's made. Those ikea frames cost about £30 each anyhow and come with the added bonus of bending if you put them on a wall. My one actually came off the wall as the metal brackets that came with it broke off...

Re: High St Framers Disappearing!
As a newby I found this a really interesting read. From ppl setting up their own businesses from their sheds/homes to customers buying and making their own frames. Guys, it seems to me this is a tough business to earn a living from. I've had my own furniture shop in the past, and after building a bu...

Re: Gap in joints
I am a newby. I know this may be a basic thing but did you check the angle of the 45 degree is right? I had a similar issue and found the pieces fit together better once the angle has been adjusted on my guillotine. Amrit Just an update if anyone is interested, I have stripped the underpinner twice!...

Wanted Cassesse Underpinner
Hi, I'm in the market for a reaonsably priced Cassesse Underpinner.
Models considered are CS59, CS79, CS88. i.e. no pneumatic ones please.
Anything near London will be better else carriage may make it too costly.

Thanks Geospectrum, I was starting to look at mount cutters. Is it 48" and can you pm an expected price? I'm based in West London so it depends on logistics. Amrit Amrit, If you also need a Keencut Gold and are willing to wait I should have one available at the end of August pending the arrival...
