Re: Stupid question alert - double rebate frames
I've done a repair job for a football shirt framed in a double rebated moulding. It had the mount at the front next to the glass, which was held in place with points hidden behind the mount. The shirt was then spaced away from the glass using the back rebate. Guess it saves the time of glueing a spa...

Re: Part required for Dry Roller
could it be a blown capacitor? I have a planer thicknesser that I thought the motor was gone on but when I turned it upside down the capacitor was quite obviously blown. I found a replacement for around £15 on eBay. Might be worth checking before getting the motor rewound

Re: Hello from Weymouth
I don't see why you shouldn't get professional results with a mitre saw and trimmer, it will just be a slower process and take a bit of time and practice. Personally I'd make a feature of selling with your own frames, you can say the whole thing has been made by yourself.

Re: Hello from Weymouth
Hello and welcome to the forum, I'm only an occasional poster but I have got lots of useful help here. One thing I noticed was you say you have a mitre trimmer but you haven't mentioned a saw. You will need a saw too as the trimmer only cuts slivers off, so it's just for the final cut to get a good ...

Re: Does anyone know anything about routers (power tool not wifi)
Ok the image I posted was from a tool website, so I suspect that the 12.7mm is rounded down if 12.7mm is not exactly 1/2". Regardless, I'm pretty certain that I have a 1/2" collet that has become tight because a bit has been left in it. I just posted the image to show what my collet looks ...

Re: Does anyone know anything about routers (power tool not wifi)
Also, not sure if I explained properly in the first post, my bits are just slightly too wide to fit in the collet, not the other way round

Re: Does anyone know anything about routers (power tool not wifi)
It's a Hitachi m12v, I've tried to attach a photo of the collet as I think it's a different design to normal, my old router had a sleeve that loosens when you undo the collet, this one the collet is all one piece, if that makes sense. I always find these things difficult to describe. After a bit of ...

Does anyone know anything about routers (power tool not wifi)
Not strictly framing related but I know some on the forum use routers so I thought I'd ask. I have bought a new router table and upgraded my router from a cheap one to a used Hitachi router. The router table came with an extension collet which I tested and found none of my 1/2" bits would fit i...

Re: Telling the difference between UV92 and uv70
Thanks Theframer, this seems to have done the trick. I have a piece framed in uv 70 and comparing the reflections there was a difference, the uv70 was more of a green reflection and what I ordered as UV92 has a more blue/purple reflection. So I think I'm safe to assume that they've just put the wron...

Telling the difference between UV92 and uv70
Just wondering if there's a way to tell the difference between truview uv70 & UV92. I ordered a piece of UV92 cut to size and while it's invoiced and written on the packet as UV92 it's come with uv70 stickers loose inside the pack. I will ring wessex on Monday but just thought I'd ask if there's...

Are you only selling as a job lot? I would be interested in the dry mount press if you were able to sell it individually. Thanks, Peter

Re: Alfamachine U200 under pinner
I have one, it's very well made and copes well with hardwood in my opinion. Occasionally with slim profiles if you put the wedges close to the edge the wedge will split and come out the side of the frame. I have found this happens only with 15mm wedges though so if you use 10mm wedges and try not to...

Re: Required to close but no Government help!
It seems like different councils are interpreting the guidance differently.
Framerchap, there is also the self employed income support scheme, have you applied for that? It gives you 80% of your monthly wage I think. You apply directly to the government for that one

Re: Required to close but no Government help!
I agree with the advice to contact your MP. The main requirement seems to be that you have a property for which you pay business rates (or receive rates relief). The grant is there to stop business' from going under. It seems absurd that they are being picky who they choose to give it to, it's not l...

Re: Required to close but no Government help!
I have had the national restrictions grant and work from an industrial unit in Liverpool. I also get most of my work from seeing customers in person. The advice your council has given seems completely at odds with the government advice. This is from the government page: Your business may be eligible...

Re: Am I retail orc manufacturing!?
My understanding is that there are a couple of different grants available. One is for self employed people and gives you a percentage of your wage, 70% from memory. This has been available since the November lockdown and was available for 3 months wages, you can apply still until the end of January....

Re: What to get next?
Do you cut mount board to size on your mount cutter? If so you could use kraftboard or artbak as a backing instead of mdf. You could cut glass with a t-square and handheld glass cutter until you can afford a wall mounted cutter

Re: Uneven cut on Morso
This normally happens to me if the rebate support isn't set exactly to the right height. If there's a slight gap then the wood can bend down with the pressure as it's being cut and end up uneven. It helps to take a tiny slither off on the last cut too.
