Re: Best way to easily and neatly cut 4mm plywood.
It might be worth using tape over the cut line before you send it through the saw. It won't stop it, but will help minimise the 'fraying'.

Where do you find artwork to frame?
Hi all, General question here - where do you go to find artwork to frame? I'm looking to expand the business from just doing friends and families pictures/posters etc and would like to start framing some local artists work alongside some graphic design works for sale to the general public. A little ...

Jet mounter wanted
Hi everyone, I’m looking for a new or used jet mounter for sale. Preferably something of a decent size to enable me to mount posters, so a minimum of 600mm. I’m keeping an eye out on eBay but if anyone has one, or something similar for sale please let me know. I’m in South Yorkshire but would be wil...

Re: What's next equipment wise?
Brilliant - thanks very much everyone. I've thought about a dry mounting machine for a while as one of the problems I have is people bringing cheap poster in and expecting them mounting without a wave or crease. They look most put out when I let them know it might come back with some 'waves'. I coul...

What's next equipment wise?
Hi everyone, I usually just hang around the forum and try and take some inspiration and knowledge from all you more experienced framers, but I'm now looking for a little advice on what to upgrade next. I'm a little garage business that is stretching the limits of my garage space and have to keep mov...

Re: Bendy bevel cuts
Thanks for the replies everyone. I’ve given the mountcutter a full service, tightened everything, realigned and squared everything back up, installed a new single sided 0.015 blade and the problem seems to have gone away. I think it was probably a culmination of everything and maybe a lack of decent...

Thanks for the replies - I’ve ordered some single cut 0.015 blades today so I’ll let you know how I go on once I get started with them.

Bendy bevel cuts
Hi all, I’ve started having problems with my bevel cuts in that they are not straight at the start of the cut and this is ruining most mats. I’ve tried doing a little bit of maintenance in tightening all the various parts up, but there was very little play in anything anyway. I’m thinking the blades...

Re: First attempt at a plate!
I know I'm probably going to get criticised for this, but the client didn't want anything showing at all, and stated he wanted it glueing to the back board. No nails, basically.
I'm not proud of it and wouldn't usually do it like that, but who am I to argue!
Thanks for the compliments everyone.

Wanted - large mountcutter
Hi all,
I'm looking for a decent quality second hand mountcutter as my Keencut Artist Plus is too small for some of the mounts I am being asked to do. Hopng for a 48" version if possible.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Frame inside a frame?
I could do, but they like the idea of a feature inside the glass, and to be honest I quite like it too.
I've used coloured straight wood in the past but would like to try something different this time.

Frame inside a frame?
Hi all, There may be a technical name for this, but being a relative newby I would like your opinions on how to set a smaller frame inside a larger one. Basically my client wants a picture behind glass but not touching it, and without any mountboard. I was thinking of making an initial frame and pla...

Re: Suggestions for a Picasso!
Thanks for the help everyone. I was looking at the Larson-Juhl Michelangelo collection (6670bu maybe) but do like the more old school look of the Sofia. I would love to take up your advice Framie, but this is probably out of my skill set at the moment. Maybe down the line somewhere (ok in the far di...

Suggestions for a Picasso!
Hi all, Not a real Picasso to be fair, but apparently quite a valuable limited edition print. The person I am framing it for is a young lady around 30 years old, quite modern thinking with no idea where she will put it or what kind of thing she is looking for. I'm basically picking your brains and h...

Hi all,
Anyone know where I can get one of these. Darren from IFGL mentioned it to me yesterday, but I can't seem to find one on the web.
Thanks in advance

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd218/twosoc/efc4df18-2c99-4419-be28-b066a84dc12b.jpg does anyone know what these are, there are quite a few but they don't look like 90 degree angles, they seem slightly off. Yep, these look very much like stair edge trims to me - nothing to do with framing I'm a...
