Re: Why is good framing so important?
lol I love the cabbage one Sean! You're right, pramsay13. We do have to be realistic in that not everyone is going to stretch to custom framing and AR glass, many will still use ready-mades, but even so there are good and bad choices to be made so any advice that will help them in the right directio...

Re: Why is good framing so important?
that's useful thanks
perfectly put
Also we could use any tips on how to decide what makes certain framing suitable or unsuitable would be good, to helps folks realise they're making bad choices and may need professional help

Why is good framing so important?
I'm writing this with my Society of Equestrian Artists judging panel hat on. At this year's exhibition we noticed there were more than ever, inappropriately and nastily framed pieces of work submitted. I would like to put an article in our newsletter to encourage artists to put more thought (and in ...

Re: Keencut 1000 for glass
thanks, that's reassuring. Reckon it'll be good enough for me if I don't happen upon a decent used 5000 anytime soon. Having done some goooogling of my own I see that Lion has their 1000s listed for several hundred quid less than everyone else, old stock maybe, possibly there's low demand from frame...

Keencut 1000 for glass
Hi all. Since I seem to be using mostly posh glass these days, I'm thinking I should splash out on a vertical cutter. I see there's a huge price difference between the Excalibur 5000 and the 1000 and I wonder if anyone who's used one can tell me what the 1000 is like at cutting glass? I don't partic...

I have a very old Framers Corner foot operated underpinner in my way, it's in working order. You can have it if you don't mind collecting from mid Wales. I have v nails for it too but would like £ for them as they are easily saleable and I am poor
pm me if interested

cutting double mounts
A quickie... Just wondered if anyone has any top tip for fixing the cutout in the front sheet of a double mount whilst cutting the back one, which avoids ruining either cutout? (so I can use it for a smaller job later. Yes I'm a skinflint
)

Thank you, you're too kind! I did that painting as a demo at an art festival and it took about 6-7 hours. I work much faster when I'm being watched, funny that!

Re: Why aren't my web visitors calling me?!?
I think a pic of your workshop would be a helpful addition, so people can easily see they are dealing with a professional framer and not someone nailing bits of wood together at the kitchen table.

Re: Help - Large format (A3+ min) scanner
I can confirm the Mitchell's scanner is awesome (John / Sally). It's 40x50" IIRC. I think it's now up & running in their new premises in Tuxford, on the A1, north Notts. tel 01777 838 234.

Re: Pricing according to perceived value
As someone who has been a customer far more than I've been a framer, I'd say yes to all of those. Also, presentation counts for a lot: taking care to wrap a frame and handling it as a thing of beauty and value when you're handing it over, and giving a little hanging kit adds way more value than it c...
