Re: Cleaning your hard disc

The is nothing wrong with it, but there again there is nothing spectacluar about it either. There are better products out there. I don't believe it offers the best protection available. The free version is a very basic version which doesn't offer full protection against all types of attack. The PDF ...

Re: Cleaning your hard disc

I would seriously recommend not using AVG free and purchase a good quality anti virus software with malware and firewall protection. As I mentioned above, F-Secure and the new Norton suites are very good and do well in tests. This is a report for 2009 on all of the AV Suites. http://www.av-comparati...

Re: Cleaning your hard disc

If you are thinking of upgrading the PC and getting XP/Win7 then it is fairly trivial to remove the old hard drive and plug it into a IDE to USB converter and grab the files from it. On the upgraded PC make sure you have AV software installed. I use F-Secure suite which is very good and the new Nort...

Re: Windows 7 & Vitual PC

I'm not familiar with Win 7 and the built in virtual PC but I'll give it a go. Can you give me a screen shot of the network settings screen John linked to? What do you have the network adaptor set to? If it is NAT then make sure the network settings on the guest OS to DHCP, virtual PC should manage ...

I prefer briefs meself - with my right leg constantly pumping up and down on the morso, boxers can cause dress-adjusting problems.

If your worried about dress-adjusting problems perhaps duct tape could help? :sweating:

Re: Furthest you have driven

A couple of years ago I took the family to Ullapool from Coventry for a weeks break. From memory it took about 11.5 hours and was about 550 miles. Keeping a 3 year old amused was the most challanging bit of it. I loved the drive between Inverness and Ullapool, didn't get stuck behind anything and th...

We saw the Blues Brothers 8) in Birmingham several years ago now, that was a great night out. More recently we've seen Foo Fighters at the NEC and Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Richo Arena in Cov. Foo Fighters put on a great show, wasn't as impressed by the Chilis, they acted like it was another sess...

My missus used to be mad on him when she was a teenager. Once he got married she went off him and found me.

I offered to take her to the concert but she wasn't interested. We're hoping to see The Specials instead. :D

Re: FATG Website

TBH £50k for a complete website redesign (presumably including some backoffice) isn't too bad. If they had employed a web designer specifically for the job he will be getting paid £30k per year. The project has been running nearly 2 years? £50k seems cheap. Believe me, when it comes to overrunning a...

Re: Am I too expensive?

We already have a cheap framer in the town even though his prices aren't any lower than mine. I had a customer bring one of his frames in recently and asked me to reframe her art 'properly'. The mitres didn't meet, the glass was smaller than the frame by about 10 mm, the window mount was narrow and...

They can sort of do that. We can do it so when they have been nicked and the thief connects to the internet it phones home so you know exactly where it is. Its up to you if you send the heavies or the police round!

Re: Computer Attacks

That setting sounds ok I think. From the description it sounds like it will stop port scans. If you like, I can have a look at the router manual if you pm me the model number. As for the num lock thing, I work for a laptop manufacturer and we get this all the time. Because of so many calls we defaul...
