Re: Pneumatic underpinner

I had a cassese 199 for 8 years. Recently I purchased a cassese cs200. It is a very good machine and I would say it is an update of the 199.

Re: Buying a framing business

Can you be sure the person you buy from is not going to use your money to update his machinery and start up elsewhere. I know a man who bought a going concern with a fat customer book, alas most of them had not dealt with the previous owner for many years. Why not buy s/h gear and give it a go yours...

Re: Morso Blades - Again (yes, sorry)

Lion picture framing are excellent at re sharpening Morso blades and no where near 70 quid.
A few years ago I was given the name of a company in NI.
I had your problem as result of using them.
I packed off said blades to Lion, excellent results with same blades, Good luck.

Re: WORKSHOP

I have same as ( The Framer ) only thing it started to take in water at ground level after a few years.
A builder recommended a Bitumin solution called RITO.
I painted it on along the bottom on the outside. It worked a treat and at only €40.

Re: Frame packs and orders

A ceramics artist who lives near me buys lengths of mouldings ( mostly ) raw from me as he likes to state that everything is made by himself.
This suits me. Perhaps you could find a framer near you to do the same.

Re: photography

I did studio & wedding photography for 30years. I use to admire a lot of my work especially studio stuff of kids. As often as not the mothers would select photos entirely different from what I thought were the best for enlargement/framing. Regardless of what other people think of your props, you...

Re: Organisation

Just getting back in to the thick of things after being side lined having Chemo for the last six months. Often worked Sundays until ten or eleven P M, to meet customer requests.
There is more to Life than Picture Framing, even for a Picture Framer.
Still it's good to be able to moan about it.

Re: Hard Wall Picture hook dilemma

Had same problem. Used 40x20mm batons along wall, level with door/windows lintels. used Hilti Bolts shot from a Hilti-bolt gun, (hired for one day from D I Y ) shop. I then used strong wood screws in to the batons. Good job, however I have since fitted the j Rail System from LION onto the wood baton...

Bottom should be approx; 10 per cent greater than top margin. 6mm at top, about7mm at bottom solves the illusion.

Re: Business Insurance - costs

I pay €1200 for public liability and loss or damage to any single item up to max of €1000. If a customer values an item at more than €1000 I get him or her to select the frame etc! And then arrange a day to do the work' so I can get it in and out on same day. This does not happen very often. My insu...

All are/were good m/c,s. I just got best results from valiani .? Hope to upgrade 2015. Will be a valiani. I do...

Re: Absolute Agony...

I have pure Angony by Pete Bingham. It is better than any framing course (and cheaper). Solutions to everyday customers unusual or awkward requirements and much more including an odd dry joke. Losing Pete was the death knell of the picture business mag! I hope you get a copy.......it is a treasure
