Swimming zoot suites

Another mounting question! Zoot suites are long and narrow (the things swimmers are wearing these days and they are able to take seconds of world records)- also more difficult to get a board up their centre Anyone done anything different with them other than floating them in a frame unit? Thanks Ross

Bark painting

Happy new year!

Any thoughts on how to mount an aboriginal bark painting - it is twisted so much that none on the four corners show any sign of sitting on the same level - size is about 350 x 150mm

Thanks

Re: Online Storage

Hi John Haven't heard of online backups before How secure are they Why are they any better than saving to a "stick" which you can do on alternate units, thereby creating a grandfather, father, son storage of data system that you always have under your own control In what way did the online...

Re: Is honesty the best policy ?

I don't think there is any doubt that the answer must be yes If there is an issue with a framed unit before it is wrapped and presented to the customer, then I believe it must be fixed I want every frame unit that goes out my front door to be able to be given a 100% tick by my customer - I don't wan...

Re: Trade Reps

I would have to say that by and large, the trade reps that I have encountered over the years have been good value, they represent the employer well and answer any queries I have Obviously they change at intervals, but generally those who replace the departing rep seem to heve been given a good overa...

Re: lack of christmas cards

Don't know if I would ever consider using Christmas cards as a marketing exercise - a Christmas card for me should be a communication between 2 parties to pause and reflect on their lives this past 12 months and to remember the true meaning of what we are celebrating I still love receiving cards fro...

Re: Seeking advice on plastic glass

We avoid acrylic like the plague - only use it when items have to be transported, or required for health and safety reasons On the subject of glass, what is the standard size of clear float glass used - we currently use 2mm clear float for sizes up to 914 x 1220mm and beyond that use 3mm clear float...

Some extracts from a weekend column last Saturday in Brisbane's Courier Mail under the heading "laptops are a pain"! . Masseurs, physiotheraphists and chiropractors must love laptops . How could you not love anything that so efficiently pumps out fresh patients with neck pain who walk thro...

"Mother and Son" limited edition ceramic

Couple brought in a limited edition plaque style piece (came from Worchester) - size approx 200(w) x 300(d) x 10mm (thick) and quite heavy - it is 1 of 500 They indicated they had seen some framed so the plaque effectively sat above the top of the frame I can not imagine how this would be held in pl...

Re: manufactureing and selling to shops

I would review your current workload for whatever quality market you are targeting - are you covering costs and making a profit. Hopefully the answer is yes, so how many frame units do you manufacture each week - use this number to determine the profit you make per unit Now how many small cheap fram...

Re: Garden centres offering a framing service?

Not sure I understand what is meant by timber behind the mount - is the timber recessed or exposed - what depth is it in relation to the mount - if recessed is another mount inserted below the timber so as to sit on the item being framed? Haven't seen the custom framing concept in garden centres her...

Re: Financial woes?

It sounds like most countries are suffering in much the same way, and as you say Bill, when the numbers get big enough, they tend to lose significance unless one is personally involved I find it difficult to assess the future for retail sales, and more specifically picture framing. Government statis...

Re: Aluminium Frames

Very interested in your use of aluminium Bill - 15/20% - I have never evaluated what proportion of sales related to aluminium profiles, but I'm sure it wouldn't be much above 1 or 2% We use and/or sell as little aluminium as possible - as others have said difficult to cut - we actually use an old se...

Barrister's certificate

Had a customer in today with a batch of her husband's certificates that had either been framed previously, or just stored (badly) There was one relating to his admission as a barrister which was printed on what the customer said was pig-skin (it was certainly in the shape of a skin, but who knows wh...

I'm not sure what the attachments in your Lions catalogue are and so can't comment - however, if the image posted by Pat is representative of what you are trying to achieve I don't understand why hanging each sample from it's apex is any better than being firmly attached to front-runner - we anchor ...

Not sure about requirements in the UK and NZ, but in my own case I have cover as follows: . Aine We use a product called Front-runner which we staple over pieces of 9mm MDF (approx 1220 wide x 1800mm high) and then screw these to battens attached to the wall - we have 2 walls of approximately 5 metres each with these boards screwed to them - no maintenance has been necessary to date so the...
