Re: Card terminals - who is best/cheapest?

We use iZettle with a Star TSP100 printer (about £120) and cash register. Claimed the VAT back and the equipment costs back on tax. Boom. Can honestly say its the best POS system we have used. On average we get charged about 1.6% due to the percentage dropping the more it's used. I really like that ...

Move off the highstreet??

Hi all. Please bear with me. We have a shop and workshop directly on the high street. We've been here for about 5 years now. We rent the property and in general it's not in a good state of repair. There are various leaks which we have tried over and over to fix but the problem is the roof. Our landl...

Re: Buying a framing business

I started my own business from scratch when I left school and then bought an existing business a few years later as well. Basically I moved my business into the old businesses premises. The business I bought was incredibly run down, really badly managed, not turning over a lot as a result of that an...

Re: Windows 10

Hi all, update on the speed issues I had with my Gunnar after updating to windows 10. First of all, big thanks to Sarah for all the help. The problem was eventually solved by updating the driver for the USB converter. Now it works 100% again.

Re: Windows 10

Just updated to 10 and now my Gunnar F1 Hybrid as running at half speed and I can't figure out why so I'm thinking of going back to 8.1 on this PC so I can get some actual work done. Works great on my laptop though!

Re: Close gallery and use as a framing showroom?

Thought I would update this thread as we've been running the 'new' business for about 6 months now. In a nut shell, it's the best move we could have made and we are busier than ever. Spontaneous sales are much more common now that we have more 'affordable' artwork on show. We've made up an 'inspirat...

Re: PCI compliance

I've been using iZettle since September and its great. Way better than the card service I had before. I would definitely recommend it. I really like the accounts software on their website which allows you to see exactly how much you have been paid, what it was for and how much your fee will be at th...

First cove box attempt

Just finished my first cove box frame and I must say, I love working with cove boxes. So much easier than working with spacers and deep rebate mouldings etc. From now on, everyone's getting a cove box. Thanks Sarah at Gunnar for getting me started and John Mcafee for the useful tips! 20150421_130453...

WW1 Medals&Photos

Framed these medals and photos. The customer gave me free rein with the design as long as it was fairly compact to fit in his small office. The central photo was smaller slightly so I staggered it to hide this and add another element to the design.

Re: best way to carry samples

I used to carry around big A1 art folders with samples on an MDF sheet to customers houses. Did that for a few years before getting my shop. Bit bulky but worked ok.

Re: McLaren Caps

Nope. Used an extra deep rebate. Thought I'd have to do something on the back to make a bit more room but they just about fitted with about a 3mm gap between the caps and the glass.

McLaren Caps

Finished this for a customer a few weeks ago. It's my first slightly complicated job on my new Gunnar F1 hybrid a got a few weeks ago. Sorry about the reflections...I tried to talk the customer into AR glass but he didn't want to fork out the extra £.
