first floating/box frame

Hi everyone, i've been framing for a while now. The instructor retired from the local college before I learnt everything one needs to know ... Some things I just figured out myself, like framing paintings in reveal frames, but I keep being asked for the box frames with the mounted art in the middle ...

Aargh! Not enought moulding

Didn't have enough moulding to frame two small pictures so have chosen to use another moulding that is a bit shabby chic and have painted acrylic titanium white over it. However, it's a really chalky finish compared to the original white moulding that the customer chose. It would have been easier to...

Re: Reveal frame, then took on the warp of the canvas board

Absolute incredible responses. I also thought about attaching it to ply. Thank you for stressing that there may be long term damage so i will put it to the person who owns the piece. I don't know how to box frame!!!! My trainer retired! However, that's a great solution for future. I don't feel like ...

Reveal frame, then took on the warp of the canvas board

I framed a canvas board that was stuck to pine around the edges. When laid flat down it was flat and looked fine. As soon as you stood it up the canvas warped - top corner going the other way from the other top corner. I thought framing it would sort it but because I use obeche it's taken on the war...

Re: Login Problems

Yes, slight indentation. But it's a black finished frame. Should I pierce a hole through the finish and try and apply hot water underneath?

What adhesive to use when framing canvas board in reveal frame

Hi! I've just seen online someone stating to attach the canvas board to the wood/spacers using silicons, others say use wood glue. I have ph balanced wood glue. They say the advantage of the silicone is it can be removed with a box cutter/stanley knife. Thanks for your help. Also, client doesn't wan...

backing board is too small

Hi everyone,
I've been asked to frame something that it much larger than I normally frame. It's 100cm x 120cm. I've just checked my mdf backing boards and they're not large enough. I rang the suppliers and they only have that size. Any suggestions?

Re: rebate problem

Thanks so much. Lots of solutions. Going to buy a proper fletcher gun. In the end I ate dinner and noticed the d-rings. I opened them up and flattened them and screwed them on. It worked!!!! I'm absoutely exhausted.

rebate problem

So I just finished framing and can't fit the backing board on as then in comes slightly above the frame. I'm using glazier's points so have been pressing and bending them on the others but this print came with an archival backing so wanted to keep it. Any ideas? Should I just push the glazier points...

Re: How to clamp when moulding is thin at outer edge

thanks so much for the replies. I thought no one has responded as no notifications. I ended up laying my body on the whole lot. But the joins are not tight like my wood ones so may try it again. Trying to get my head around Geospectrum's advice. Is there a video on this method? Thanks

How to clamp when moulding is thin at outer edge

HI! I'm stuck! Nearly took my eye out! Working with a decorative shaped, difficult moulding. It's thin round the outside and thicker where the mount board/picture is so that when I clamp it and tighter it the clamp slips off. Any suggestions? Are there clamps with tiny corners for this kind of thing...
