Just in conclusion.

I finally, after much procrastination, went for the casesse 486 ultra.

It is totally brilliant..the dogs do-da's!

What has been so good for myself is that i do a lot of deep box frames, in ash & oak mainly.
previously I was having to join in vice and nail with gun. But hey ...

white gum strip??

Does anyone know where to buy white gum-strip?
It is for small frames to sell ready made up, and as the frames are white, would look good with white tape.

The nearest I have found is from TN Lawrence. But is £8.20 a roll ( 200m x 4omm). probably will buy a box, so looking for better price ...

I usually point people in the direction of Bliss for specialist mounting, they do a lot for artists.
You could also try Kay mounting, who are in a mews off Stroud green road..behind John jones(London N4)..sorry don't know number, but you should be able to google. I had not used them, but was ...

I am using 3mm mdf, but am now having second thoughts due to comments here.

I always use a conservation barrier board. Have thought about art-bak, but not sure I want to go that way ,
Mainly because I think it looks cardboard-y and a bit cheap, also not so rigid.
Also I use quit a lot of deep boxy ...

Thanks lots moglet! I looked for velcro corners in lion catalogue (constantly to hand now i am drooling over fancy underpinners!) and hey, they have got heavy duty velcro reckoned to hold 7kg!! and (it gets better!) on same page a moulding corner display system as described by roboframer ...

While were in the wonderful world of velcro**....has anyone found a way of making it stick to aluminium samples??

Moglet, what i usually do with my small selection ( you could say exclusive!) of scoop mouldings is to glue and put in corner vice til set before underpinning. Then if really impossible to get get a pin in inner edge without squshing mould, use repair plate or similar at back. or for smaller frames ...

which cassese??

Hello there,

Am in process of upgrading underpinner and would like bit of advice from those that know.

Have fished about a bit here and seems to be that Cassese is a good bet.

Just pondering which one to go for. I tried out the 299m ultra a while ago at Simons. It was dead swish, but maybe should ...

Just to say thanks to Roboframer for velcro price. At the moment I only need hook stuff for samples, so will get from Lion, but much appreciated.
And Robin, thanks for velcro link....really good. The straps were expensive ...but have got other things I may give a try.

thanks again
