Hi YPF,
That's exactly how we produce our acrylics as standard- 3mm acrylic with a 2mm aluminium backing. You can have a look at our website here... https://wellhung.co.uk/print/acrylic-prints/

Re: new blades
Apart from the defect on the side of our blades, they still only last about 3 weeks before needing re-sharpening- Our Morso blades last almost 2 months before needing changing. Baffled to hear the contrary from so many others.

Re: new blades
Just got them back sharpened and they're still not great... A lot of friction pushing hardwoods apart- Softwoods ripping on back edges... Manufacturing defaults etc... No way these are better than the new morso blades.

Re: new blades
I brought these blades on the strength of this thread. Bad decision. We received one set that had a protruding piece of metal on the side that meant the blades couldn't cut down- Lady from FC was very nice and replaced them for us, no worries. Second set had exactly the same fault, but as our other ...

Go LED!.. I'm just doing my space up and have installed 2 long 5 meter suspended tracks with LED light fixtures and they look great! The good thing about them is that you can add and change lights as you need. I had mine suspended, but you can just screw the tracks directly onto the ceiling if you p...

Yeah well that stuff looks more like a cleaner rather than a scratch removal product. Try the stuff that was recommended above.

Re: scratched styrene
^ Some kind of plastic polish is what you need. We always use this one and it works miracles on small scratches. Just dab the paste onto the scrtatched areas and buff it around with a soft cloth.. good quality toilet paper is fine. Then use more clean paper to buff out the residue. http://www.amazon...

Yeah, I think you're right.. It was a fairly cheap paper that we used...I am looking at canson papers and illford atm, but I just need to do some experementing really.. which is difficult without the kit! Hopefully should move into the shop in about a month now though! Many thanks for all your advic...

Re: Vertical cutters
Awesome..thanks for the advice! Outsourcing those might be an idea.. If I can find someone local, I might do that! One last question.. I promise :D Just regarding laminating/mounting... we had issues where mounted prints peeled from the corners - like the paper split. This only happened when laminat...

Re: Vertical cutters
Thanks mate.. Actually didnt notice that they used bamboo.. I've seen quite a few photographers show thier work on layered ply, which looked really nice!.. Also not many London printers offer that, so am thinking it would be a good thing to have something a bit different.. (am convincing myself to b...

Re: Vertical cutters
As you have noticed, machines that have multiple functions tend to do some things better than others. Ideally, it's best to have one machine to do one job. You do need a lot of space and a lot of cash though..... Yeah! That's why this one seems appealing.. everything in one and doesnt take t...

Re: Vertical cutters
Thanks for that Rob. Accuracy would be crucial, so will look into that if I go ahead... The clamp was automatic and I believe you can calibrate the horizontal support, so I'd hope it would be spot on! It won't be for heavy production really (not to start anyway). I dont imagine cutting more that 20-...

Vertical cutters
Just doing some research on equipment to buy for the new business and am in a bit of a dilema on which vertical cutter to get. I recently saw this great machine at Fespa, but it's pretty pricey! http://www.lionpic.co.uk/product/Verdi-Twin-157---Dust-Extractor-----,35621,0.aspx I wasn't even consider...

I presume they're similar to Lion's aluminium mouldings. If so, have a look in their brochure and theres a little diagram howing how it's put together.

Re: New website feedback please
I'm in the process of getting my website built, so I don't want to be too critcal. But, to be brutally honest if my designers came up with that, I would not pay them! Sorry, but you did ask! There's so many things wrong wth it, I don't know where to start. But I feel I should be a little bit constru...
