looking for a print
I was wondering if anyone can help with this email I received from a customer- I have no idea about this print. "I was wondering if you could help. I am looking for a print of a painting I saw many years ago in Amsterdam. It may have been by Van Gogh, but as I have looked through so much of his...

Re: FATG live
I have been looking at the guilds new site over the last few days and wonder how e-mango justified £50k. I really was looking forward to seeing how the guild would have embraced the web and brought us a truly dynamic site. I thought the point of the site was to offer impartial advice to potential cu...

John,
I feel that quantites, markups & price/metre etc. should be viewed by everyone, but only the supervisor could edit information.

Protecting moulding table
Hi John, I think I mentioned this to you previously at the Spring Fair,- is it possible to password protect the moulding table on estlite? We are using a multi-user environment and I feel this element is holding a lot of information that I do not want lost or adjusted. I rely on estlite for stock co...

Re: Morso Blade Sharpening
Thought I'd offer my thoughts- I've never used Lions or anyone else for blade sharpening. I have been using Cathendon in Scotland since they started offering this service last year. Cannot speak highly enough of 1. the finish of the blades on their return and 2. Dealing with Gordon Cunningham. Very ...

Thanks Prospero for your thoughts on this. What you describe might be the ideal option. As I said earlier, I don't really like the look of wrapped art and those that want it are more concerned with wall decor than art. That said, I stock a wide range of prints that I'd sooner wrap on bars, than not ...

Hi Steve, This is one process that I have never had the nerve to attempt. On Hotpresses training day last year in Belfast, we all covered this procedure with mixed results. My attempt was not bad, and I guess with practice comes confidence. A 80 x 60cm I imagine is nerve-racking waiting for that tea...

I installed Estlite 2 years ago, before i'd any machinery or a premises. Messed about with the free download while setting up the business. I'm still experimenting with it and think its an integral part of the framing business. I cannot imagine not having instant access to moulding prices, quick quo...

Can anyone assist- I'm accumulating a display area left of chevron displays where I want to offer samples to show to customers. Looking good so far, but I am lacking a textile piece to demonstrate lacing service. I don't get much fabric work through the shop, but I would like to lace and frame somet...

Maybe I should be putting my contribution on the Estlite section, but it sort of ties in with the discount theme. I cannot grumble with my profit margin, we all have varying fixed overheads and to a certain degree our location dictates our prices. I take umbrage at those customers that expect discou...

Hi Eddie, I'm based in the North West and use Sisslings, Dublin, Ashworths in Belfast and Arqadia Bedford. Ordering online from the latter I usually get my stuff in 4 days. Irish based is usually 24-48 hrs. There are many others, Scopas, Simons has a NI. rep. I guess you will find the odd deal from ...

I found that until I got on a Hotpress course, their DVD is a handy reference. You can buy it from Lions for a fiver- I got mine free from Ashworth & Thompson. Get the popcorn in for the family, great nights viewing!- seriously it covers everything and is always good to check back on a particula...

Thanks
Osgood,
Thanks for the advice, third time I got it acceptable- cannot say absolutely perfect.
Maybe the blades are ready for a change. Everything else is fine, just finding this moulding a pain a present- wasting more than using.

Code 107 157 000. Have had no problems with this moulding in the past, but have unsuccessfully taken 2 frames apart this morning as there is a woeful gap on the inside? A few other jobs are perfect. On two different lengths there is a noticeable difference in weight, but it has no bearing on the out...

Hello from new member.
Hi All, I have from time to time been viewing the posts on the forum. Framing full time for just over 12 months now, and I know I still have loads to learn. Every week seems to bring new challenges regarding a customer request or maybe in dealing with a difficult customer, re: discount, constant 'gu...
