Re: 5 foot x 6 foot silver frame

Hi, Thanks for the advice thus far - the lady isn't putting anything in the frame. She's painting a piece of mdf a bright blue colour which is secured to the wall and the frame is to go round the mdf. She then plans to put other smaller frames in the big frame. The big frame will be hung on the wall...

Who'd like to cut 100 mounts?

Hi all, I had a chap ring the house yesterday asking for the following with some exacting criteria: Price to cut 100 off mountboards (6" x 3" with an aperture 4" x 2"). Material 2000 micron, cream in colour and conservation (my suggestion when i spoke to him). He wants 90 degree ...

Re: Pointless email or scam?

Lol - if her email address is complete gibberish then it's definitely a scam.

I don't see the point of an email that's so obviously spam - it doesn't make sense...!

5 foot x 6 foot silver frame

Hi all,

I've been asked to quote for a 5 foot x 6 foot frame in silver (no glass, just the frame).

How much would you all look to charge for this please?

For a start I'm not going to be able to clamp it as my clamp won't go that big...!

Thanks,

Sean

Re: Keencut Ultimat Gold

They are the chicken's aren't they...?! I got one off ebay a few months ago and I love it. Great that it dismantles too for easy storage under the bed. Completely bizarre way to cut an aperture though by lowering that little arm - however it works, so I won't knock it. I use it rarely, but it makes ...

CS88 Pedal bottoming out

Hi all, The foot pedal on my CS88 almost bottoms out/hits the floor when I use it, to the extend the other day that it did and the wedges weren't fully in. I can't find anything in the manual for it and I'm sure the boom wasn't past it's minimum 50mm height - if anything it was lower. Is there any a...

Re: Lion Deliveries

I can count on one hand the amount of good deliveries I've had from Lion and this Wednesday's delivery is no better. I asked for a good piece of moulding but it's arrived dented and scratched. To get round this I drive in personally and do a 65 mile round trip to self pick as i have no confidence if...

Re: Ulimat Gold Teething problems

Thanks all - yes, got a manual with it but it's not very user friendly as a number of people have said but I will persevere... I'm an occasional framer so I suspect the Ultimat is somewhat wasted on me, but the ease of dismantlement and the ability to cut and bevel full size boards swung it for me. ...

Ulimat Gold Teething problems

Hi all, Had a dabble with my Ultimat Gold last night and have a couple of gripes at this early stage. 1) When test trimming a board to size, the Ultimat was sliding all over the dining room table and the end of the cut seems very close (geographically) to the end stop of the cutter bar - maybe I've ...

Logan Simplex 750 Plus Mountcutter

Hi all, Having picked up a Keencut Ultimat Gold 1200 yesterday, my Logan Simplex 750 Plus is now for sale. Let me know if you're interested in it, or know someone whose looking to get into framing perhaps as it's a great entry level cutter and beyond. If I don't get any enquiries I'll put it on Ebay...

Re: Which Mat Cutter?

I'm tearing what hair I have left out with my Logan 750 Simplex Plus as I'm getting hooking and overcuts again, despite setting the blade depth and trying a new blade. Was at Lion yesterday who have both the Ultimate Gold and the 2200 on special offer at the moment - I'm only an occasional framer bu...

Canvas Coating

Hi all, A quick question if I may - a customer has a canvas they want stretching onto bars. Said canvas is a photo of something or other, but they also want me to quote them for coating it too. I'm not sure what they mean by coating and it's not something I'm equipped to do myself - does anyone know...

Re: Lion's L1444 / Shabby Chic Range

I'll be cutting the moulding on my mitre saw (on the basis I can make my customer a clean chevron) - I'm expecting a clean edge, but will still have the problem of matching the pattern in theory.

Lion's L1444 / Shabby Chic Range

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has any tips on matching the frame design on Lion's shabby chic range, particularly L1444?

Short of using a dremel to blend in the pattern, are there any other ideas out there?

Thanks,

Sean

Mountboard with Heart Aperture

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone produces mountboards with a "Heart" Aperture in the middle which is then surrounded by approximately six equally spaced normal rectangular aperatures for photographs? It sounds an easy job for someone with a CNC controlled mount cutter, but not for me with...
