Re: Glue for spacer
Thanks Grays. Would you suggest that it is good practise to make the spacer the same width as the rebate?

Glue for spacer
I am making a spacer by using two thin strips of mount board stuck together and I am wondering does it really matter what type of glue is used for this as the glue is not coming into contact with what's being framed or would framers have a go to glue for this sort of purpose?

Re: conservation tape
Cheers P thanks for the feedback. Any idea where to get those screws with plastic capping head? I have looked at mirror screws, my only concern with these are that they are quite domed and will touch the glass, unless you get flat ones?

conservation tape
Is conservation tape used only for flat art work? can be used for some objects, I would like to know if the reversable tape would be suitable for using on a record and if so would you use it on the actual vinyl or the label part?

Re: vinyl record
Hello Pramsay, the problems I have had with this method is that the record can then turn or move and it starts getting complicated with spacers and how to secure the washer, bolt etc.

vinyl record
Hello can anyone suggest a good method for framing a vinyl record please, not the album cover but the actual record. I would want the process to be reversable leaving the record in tact.

Re: Gold and silver mount board
Thanks for the suggestions Pospero. I dont have any experience of using filets and I am framing black image with gold font so in this situation I have to say the gold mount looks really good, if I can get it cut right. Unfortunitly I dont have any guilt varnish kicking around but might have to be on...

Re: Gold and silver mount board
Hi Grays, I currently just use Arcadia so all from the same range, It looks to be the same thickness maybe a tad thicker but 99% sure its all 1.4 board. Fresh blade and slip. After trying the gold I tried black mount and could do this without the issues I had with the gold.

Gold and silver mount board
Could anyone please tell me if gold and silver mount board is notoriously difficult to cut. I have been successfully (in a fashion) cutting black mount board this morning but when it comes to the gold I am gett overcuts/bulges in the corner. Is this due to how gold and silver mount is produced? I am...

Re: GCF qualification
I think the bigger question is does the industry need a trade body. I think this can depend on your view and actual interest in framing and with what regard you hold it. I personally am deemed by others at times as a purist/traditionalist/old fashioned/fuddy duuy? I still use a film camera, I like ...

Re: GCF qualification
I started the thread on Standards to get a feeling for what many in our industry want from a trade body - not just what a handful of prolific contributors to this forum want. The easy bit is writing down what you THINK is needed - the really hard bit is devoting an unspecified amount of time and co...
