Re: Should Trueview AR sheets be square?
The other sheet in the box was not square, (I checked the diagonals), only 115.5cm long and had a scratch. I will send it back.
The next box I've just opened is full length and square. Perhaps just a couple of bad sheets in the previous one.

Should Trueview AR sheets be square?
I am cutting a 905mm x905mm square from a 915mmx1220mm sheet of Trueview UV70 anti-reflective glass. Been having problems with the gas fitting, presumed it was me. I checked my square, its spot on. checked the glass but its not square. On the short side its around 5mm out on the end that is opposite...

Re: Is 3mm thick acrylic OK for 3ft x 4ft box frame
If it helps anyone else the supplier I am about to place an order with are Amari Plastics. They stock in thicknesses in 1.8mm to 15mm in sheet sizes of 5ft x10ft.... https://amariplastics.com/product/acryglas-xt/ They cut to size for free but you need to buy a whole sheet (around £50 for 3mm) and de...

Re: Corner Clamps
Slightly related. If anyone is interested Lidl sometimes sell them for £6. I think straps are about 10ft long. http://www.eoffersuk.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/04-03-10-03-Lidl-Weekly_020.jpg I bought four. The cams didnt grip always but I roughened up the cams with some crosshatching from a stan...

Is 3mm thick acrylic OK for 3ft x 4ft box frame
I am using 6mm wide spacers that are about 12mm deep. I normally use 2mm glass but I need to do one in acrylic, would 3mm be thick enough ?
thanks in advance.

Re: Spare parts for a Alpha 1M anywhere?
Yes, I hate the throwaway society and always make do and mend if possible. We even wash out sandwich bags, dry and reuse them to reduce one use plastic waste.... its reminded me, although its slightly off topic, has anyone tried and can recommend an environmentally good way to wrap pictures for movi...

Re: Cutting moulding - Hold against bottom plate or fence?
The consensus is definitely "hold down". I think I have generally been holding against the vertical fence, I will make a change to my technique and see if I can eradicate the odd gap in a corner....
Thanks for all of your input.... It's very much appreciated.

Cutting moulding - Hold against bottom plate or fence?
I have been wondering if sometime the moulding I use is not square, bottom(which will form the rear of the frame) relative to outside face. I used to have a morso but now cut with a mitre saw, I am now toying with making foot operated pneumatic clamps, if I did, should I be looking at orientating th...

Re: Spare parts for a Alpha 1M anywhere?
Hi Mark
yes agree, I didnt need an exact copy but something near enough would be good enough, I guess I can just figure out the easiest way to get the old one working one out, measure it, hang a bag of sugar or bucket of water on the end, see how much it stretches and buy 2 similar.
thanks

Spare parts for a Alpha 1M anywhere?
My Alpha 1M has 2 springs, one of them has snapped. I have lived with this for a while by pulling the foot lever up with the foot but its becoming a pain in the buttock if you get my drift. Does anyone know who sells spares, or better still, in advance of me wrestling the old one out (its quite a ti...

Re: wholesale moulding suppliers for batch frames?
Thanks all for your suggestions, I want o be moving up the quality ladders but I have tried hand finished frames and found them very time consuming despite following advice from FF, maybe I will give it another crack later in the year. I am sure part of the problem is just practice.
