My Taurus has started leaking air.
Does anyone know if it possible to buy air valves for Taurus underpinners anywhere
or if there is an alternative valve that would do the job?
Thanks in advance

Need mounts cut
Hi The vast majority of my mount cutting is of the standard rectangular variety so no way I could justify a CMC. However, I do get requests from time to time for more adventurous mounts. So, if anyone in Northern Ireland has a CMC and would be interested in supplying me with mounts I'd be keen. I'm ...

Re: Professional Body
Aha! Thanks David. You're right it was a rather long discussion which I'm sure nobody wants to have again.

Professional Body
A while ago I saw somewhere on this forum a discussion about establishing a picture framing professional body.
Does anyone know if any action was taken or did it just fizzle out?
It sounded like a good idea.

Re: What makes a great framer ?
To go off on a slight tangent I think there are great framers and there are great business people but it's rare to find both in one body. :D I think that's why husbands and wives sometimes makes great framing businesses. One has an eye on the framing and the other keeps an eye on the business and mo...

Re: Frame Finishing courses
Thanks for the replies everyone. Prospero and NYAF, I do a lot of staining, waxing, and straightforward single colour painting. Also done a bit of distressing using 2 colours. I guess what I'm looking for are paint techniques/finishes which are fairly quick to do and that customers would pay for. Wi...

Re: Largest Moulding Supplier
From what I've seen on TV it is unwise to enter the Den without being adequately prepared.
It's also fun gathering information.

Re: Largest Moulding Supplier
I thought it would probably be Arqadia or Simons but I have no figures to support that. The other figure which I would love to know is the size of the bespoke framing business in UK. Even if I knew the sales figures for Arqadia or Simons I still wouldn't know the percentage of sales to contract fram...

Hi featurepiece
I know John and Graham well. Great business and great and extremely helpful guys.
I just felt like a bit of a moan about delivery times (and costs) from mainland.

I'm envious.
" Next day delivery ". Does it really exist?
Takes at least 3 days for my Arqadia orders to arrive.
You guys on the UK Mainland get it far too easy.

Re: Largest Moulding Supplier
Very interesting stuff. Are there any figures for percentage market shares?
I was under the impression that Mainline was growing rapidly so looks like the balance is changing.

Re: As much as possible
The customer did not take up the £700 offer. I have been framing for him for years. He took the photographs and they are coming to me for framing. We will probably decide to frame them differently to the photographer's suggestion but off the top of my head if I was to frame them as the photographer ...

Re: As much as possible
Hi IFGL. Thanks for the welcome and thanks for contributing. Going by the number of views of this topic it appears that a lot of people share my interest in frame pricing and in my opinion that is as it should be, as a framer like any business person is served well by a healthy interest in improving...

Re: As much as possible
I think we are maybe talking about different things. I simply mean that as business people we make an investment of time and money and we should be aiming to get the best return on that investment. There is no question of contempt or mistrust etc. A customer needs something framed and we give them a...
