Re: Vintage postcard
A fine-art reproducer/giclee printing outlet could replicate this for you no problem. Your average desktop scan/print setup won’t get close to the quality you desire. A fine art quality smooth paper can be selected to match the postcard finish. Happy to help if needed.

Re: Saving newly created shape on V Studio
I’m not sure this is possible to save as a .plt via Create. What you can do is open your .vds file in Create, copy your shape (ctrl+c), open a new file and paste (ctrl+v) your shape in into your new file. Well worth learning the basics with Corel Draw though. I posted a very useful pdf in the Drawin...

Using up scraps….! (the festive edition)
 🎅🏽 Hope you are all getting in the festive spirit?! Shop decs are up. Tree idea shamelessly stolen from Framers Only last Christmas. A whole years worth of scrap frames went into it! The new spray painting setup was a godsend! Festive greetings one and all. I hope the Christmas slog is not too...

Re: Inserting Images into a Sale
Strange considering your success with your original post. Try editing by reorienting and resaving your original image. Perhaps it’s displaying corrected on your machine but the file is inverted?

Bargain double mitre saw - Brevetti Prisma
Could be a steal for someone. For the record not my listing but I have the same machine and it’s been a game changer for my mires/joins after becoming underwhelmed with my morso performance. Brand new these would be £10k, second hand newer models circa £2k. Worth a look if you are seeking a cheap al...

Re: Airlines in the workshop
Hi Fruitini, Not used omer, but used both 18ga brads and 23ga pin nails for fixing big thin mouldings. I have 2 separate guns, a stanley 18ga nailer and axminster pin nailer (25mm pins max). I have had them for years with no issues. You can switch guns without dropping air pressure so switching is ...

Oak faced ply could be an option for your backing board if you are looking for that all round oak look

Re: Airlines in the workshop
In preference to hijack a topic rather than start another thread I wondered if I could move this discussion on to nail guns, in particular brad guns and headless pinners. Its high time I added one of these to my arsenal. I am finding a real trend for narrow tall mouldings at the moment (particularly...

Re: Best UK Moulding Supplier
Hi James! Welcome to the forum. Most suppliers sell a very similar range of core mouldings. If you spread your offerings over a few suppliers you won’t be able to build up your purchase volumes to secure the very best discounts so as a start up it makes sense in the first instance to build up a rela...

Re: Duplicating a three year old job.
That's not enough to scare off any of my customers imo. One of the best pieces of advice I ever took on board (which probably came from this forum…!) was if no-one ever tells you that your price is too expensive, then you aren’t charging enough! We never used to get any kickbacks on price and I nev...

Re: Duplicating a three year old job.
Actually the £102 job would be £109.50 now as we didn’t used to charge for a backboard within our pricing structure but we do now.

Re: Duplicating a three year old job.
Seems like you might be leaving a little on the counter Justin. That’s only an 8% increase over three years whereas inflation in that time would be something like 15%. I called up all our jobs during 2019 that we charged £88 for and there were 4! At todays prices the same orders would be priced at £...

Re: Advice Appreicated
Does a manual cutter set itself up then?! You crack on and cut thousands of extra thick mounts by hand then! I’m happy with a few button taps! I’m confident I could cut 50 different mounts twice as fast on a CMC, they’d all be bang accurate and the arthritis wouldn’t be screaming!

Re: Advice Appreicated
I expect to require about 50 of these per week. If things take off how I hope they will the thing that concerns me is the volume of repetitive mounts to cut hence looking at maybe bringing it in house from the start and it being automated. Absolutely not an indulgence IMO. 50 per week is over 2500 ...

Re: Advice Appreicated
In addition to what’s been said the technical support with a CMC is as important as the machine itself. So much can (and will) go wrong. Cutting 3mm plus boards really put these machines through their paces and any problems will be magnified on thick boards. A Valiani bought through TGS Repairs will...
