Re: I finally get it!
My old workshop was in an upstairs room previously occupied by a hairdressers. They moved downstairs mainly to save the older customers from having to go up the stairs. For several weeks I had a very frail old lady who must have been 90+ come up and ask for invisible hairnets. :P Did you order a fe...

I finally get it!
It's taken three years of framing but I've just worked out that (a lot of) customers think mounts come in from the edge of the picture rather than out from the edge.
Suddenly so many conversations I've had with customers make a lot more sense!
Did everyone else know this?

Re: deifying gravity
It's far from the craziest customer suggestion I've come across. I get why it's not a good solution but I also completely get why the customer thought it was. Much more so than the customer who wanted me to make the frame bigger but didn't want to pay for a new one because most of it was already mad...

Re: HELP WITH A SUPPLIER FOR STAND OFFS
I thought you were in some kind of standoff with a supplier!
This is much less exciting
Have you tried somewhere like Morplan? You can start an online chat with a sales person and ask , they're normally pretty helpful.

That's beautiful.
We also do wedding stationery so we do a lot of these - none of them have looked as stunning as that.

So long and thanks for all the fish.
This is just a quick message to thanks to everyone for their help and support since I've been a member here. I'm going to be leaving this job at the end of this week for a much more boring job that doesn't involve framing at all. This is such a knowledgeable and helpful community. There have been a ...

I've not personally done ant training with Richard Atkins but I know a few people who have and spoke very highly of it.

Could you sell her some sheets of foam core and a bottle of spray mount?
That would be a budget solution for her and a (little) bit of profit for you...

Thanks, Mark. That's really helpful.
I've had a go at a few trinket boxes and they went fairly well. Hadn't thought of little cabinets. Not a bad idea at all. I'll need to have a little play around.

Re: Trimming down a print
Sometimes if there's a lot of space around an image like this I have the discussion with the customer about not having a mount but a spacer instead to lift the glass from the artwork. Usually, if there is no mount you can have a much chunkier / fancier frame. For me the skinny frame in the original...

RMFs
Without getting in to any debates on RMFs and whether they're worth doing (they are for us - I need to find something to do for 8 people a day!) Those who do sell them - any sizes or styles that sell better than others? Someone mentioned square frames at some point, anyone had any luck with that? Th...

Re: strong glue for internal foam board in deep box frame?
When I do mine, I cut the foamcore, stick 2 or 3 bits of double-sided tape (depending on length of foamcore) on to the foamcore, take the paper off the double-sided tape, then dab a couple of blobs of PVA glue along the foamcore strip, the double-sided tape holds the spacer in place until the PVA g...

Re: Traditional framing in Uganda
Looking good! It'll be quite the adventure. Prepare to be impressed by the resourcefulness when people don't have access to the tools they need! Hope you enjoy your time in Uganda. I spent a while in Malawi and absolutely loved the place. Just started following you on twitter, so looking forward to ...

Re: Nice Strut Backs?
Man walks in to a framer's and asks: "do you have any stands for frames?"
The framer replies: "strut back?"
The man starts strutting backwards out the shop saying "do you have any stands for frames?"
Thank you very much....

I feel a bit spoiled with this one, I've only ever used an Excallibur 5000 to cut glass.
