Re: Energy companies

I've been with Octopus for a couple of years, with domestics dual fuel monthly readings. I don't have or want smart meters. So that's about 50 unlucky spins with zero winnings.
I still play it of course, has anybody ever won? Otherwise no complaints so far with this energy company.

Christmas Reading?

I have just finished Simon Brett's detective novel 'Guns in the Gallery', not brilliant but all about art, framing and a weird exhibiting artist. Not worth buying, lightweight reading only from this prolific author. Available in all good libraries!
Best wishes,
(Retired) Bob.

Re: Ready Mades

Surely all galleries carry A4 readymades? Make black frames in narrow and wider mouldings, the former for plumbers/electricians etc. and the latter for certificates or proud Dads. They hate shopping so it's a five minute sale!

Re: Brass Tray & Box frame mouldings

Niki, I used to keep a book of queries with contact details in case of a 'serendipity' moment later on. Everyday folk at the front, serious quality stuff upside down at the back. Your 400 frames would definitely be there, gathering cobwebs! Eventually I would scribble TW over an entry so as not to w...

Re: Brass Tray & Box frame mouldings

400 frames from impossible moulding? Could it be an old April Fool's joke with whiskers, being passed round the country?
Naughty but nice... Good luck with the search.

Re: Small ready made frames.

Before retirement, I used The Ready Made Picture Frame Company in Hampshire for over a decade. They were reliable, reasonably priced and delivered smothered in (reusable) bubble wrap. Any faults or breakages easily credited, so nice people to deal with. I didn't have the time to make 'em so when mar...

Re: Antique Frame- how old is this?

It appears to be a very old painting on canvas but not to everyone's taste these days. Mother-in-law jokes went out with Les Dawson. However I bet it would interest New Englanders more than Californians, think Salem for example. The frame looks tired but still very expensive when new.

Re: frame with no rebate

Sounds like a problematical piece to repair. Wonder why glass broke in the first place? Perhaps too much tension? Frame looks in pristine condition. For almost thirty years, all my work was labelled whereas untraceable framers mean to stay that way! Yuk, can't see the size but a tenner for new glass...

Re: Ideas for funerals

Inventive Keith, time travelling Steve N. will let you know how it went... I'm want 'Spirit in the Sky' by Norman Greenbaum blasting out at full pitch as the curtains close. Should be either tears or smiles, hopefully the latter. Sadly 'Lazy Sunday Afternoon' by The Small faces doesn't work midweek.

Re: St Ives Framing Advice

Wow, nice one Steve. After 30 years of framing, I only found this site a couple of years ago when trying to (unsuccessfully) sell my little frame shop. Not easy then, even harder now, friends! Happily retired, I still admire Steve's honest, simple approach to queries. Pithy and sensible. My customer...

Whatever the recent cock-up, the televised moron will quote the immortal words "LESSONS WILL BE LEARNED". So that's OK then, until the next disaster, when once again..... Oh, and the other annoyance is a radio request for a futuristic event (marriage, child, concert, holiday etc.), ...

Help For Mark...

In view of the exceptional circumstances poor Mark has encountered, his many F.F. friends would surely like to help in some small way. His business in Devon will suffer greatly, especially if a new lease is involved. If someone with IT skills (not me!) could organise a crowd-funding site, a few cont...

Picture Hooks

I totally agree but customers needn't. In an age of finding someone to wash your car, clean your windows, mow your lawns, walk your dog and fit a wiper (click, done, +£6) etc., some households don't even possess a decent hammer! Especially elderly widows and yes, I've helped a few out over the years...
