Re: Polyester Welding
Thanks Justin, Prospero, There was a method whereby heating up a blade or similar to cut and then seal the polyester creating a pocket. I have since bought a temp adjustable soldering iron and that has work. The item slipping around was the worry Prospero, it was an old newspaper sheet that the arti...

Re: Polyester Welding
Thanks Justin, worried about the tape coming on contact with the artwork (a newspaper sheet). I was shown a method by Jan Stanlick years ago but have forgotten the detail. I will have a play around.
In short, I need a pock with a short end opening 280mm x 380mm

Polyester Welding
Hi all, Happy Friday! Anyone got any experiences / tips of Polyester welding for encapsulation? It don't want to spend the crazy money for the specific machines that do this... I was thinking a soldering iron but that feels a bit much of blunt instrument... Maybe heating a blade... Many thanks in ad...

Morso F great condition - £550 SE London
Hi All, I am selling my Morso F. I am lucky enough to have purchased a second hand EH Morso and won’t need two machines. I bought this from a contact on this site in 2017. The machine is in very good working order. My studio is a room in my house and as a result the machine has no rust and has been ...

Re: Tape Dispenser
Apologies for the delayed rely, I was hit with covid lurgy and have been flat out catching up on work after having to take time off.
Many thanks for the information and offers. I am lucky enough to have bought a second hand machine from a retiring framer.
Thanks again all!

Tape Dispenser
Hi all,
Can I get some recommendations for gummed tape dispensers, the machines that wet the tape and cut to length.
Ive had a quick google and 'Tegrabond BP333 Manual Gummed Tape Dispenser' pops up a few times.
Anyone have experience of these machines and recommendations of a model type?
Thanks

Re: KEENCUT - big thumbs up
Hi Lorna, Sorry to hear you are having problems and that KeenCut haven’t been as forthcoming. I am aware that Andy has retired from the business. The issue I had with my machine (new) was with the ‘slide away’ bar. It had a wrap to it. This was causing significant ‘hooking’. Your issue seems slightl...

Re: Matching coloured frame and mount
Thanks Justin, the artwork is float mounted so the backing mount wouldn’t be in contact with the glass.

Matching coloured frame and mount
Happy new year all, I hope you all manage a good break! I have had a few request from clients recently for a style whereby the frame (custom painted in a F&B type colour) and the mount are matching. In both instances, the request has been for the artwork to be surfaced mounted. Can I ask for som...

Thanks Mark, glad I'm not going mad ... in this case at least!
What did you then change to instead of this product, if I can ask?
All the best

Hi all,
I have had a few enquires about perspex frames, not display boxes but perspex profiles. Is anyone aware of who supplies these or are these fully custom made?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Hot Press Dry Mounting issues
Thanks for the advice all.
justin, I spoke to Steve and it’s possible (as I have mounted the items as per the advice you have all kindly offered) that the tissue itself could be the fail point. I will be switching to Hotpress tissues.
Thanks again all, enjoy the sunshine!

Hot Press Dry Mounting issues
Hi, I'm having some issues when Dry Mounting that I hoping someone can help with? I am relatively new to Dry Mounting so not too savvy with the tips and tricks... I have found that when Dry Mounting a heavy height paper (circa 300gsm) to 3mm foamboard (Wessex own stock) that one corner of the paper ...

Re: Splines, who uses them
My journey into splines continues. I have put the table saw on the back burner for now, frankly I’m too busy to deal with a new bit of gear and learn how it works. However I am lusting after some fab spline designs I have seen by other framers. In particular the use of a brass splines in a walnut fr...
