Framing seaweed
Has anyone been asked to frame dried pressed seaweed - seems to be a new trend! Someone has asked me if I can do it, but having never done any the answer is I don’t know! Not sure how to stick it. Could it touch the glass? A box frame probably best I would imagine. Any other potential issues? Thanks...

Re: Moulding ID?
Well it’s more that I will now be able to tell them the exact moulding isn’t now available but we can find a similar one, not sure if they will go for it, may go for something completely different but I wanted to armed with the knowledge! Thanks again

Dark stain
Hi I have recently had a request for a match for an old frame stained to look like old dark oak - a very dark brown. I haven’t been asked for this before. The frame I am matching is luckily an existing Wessex obeche moulding. Which wood stain do you think is best for this purpose, and any suggestion...

Re: Moulding ID please
I think it looks really like this one from LJ but you don’t give a size - the one I’m thinking of is 4cm wide and 1.2cm deep, its a paper veneer has a smooth Matt finish but looks like wood code 240 170 540 . 0F6F42C2-BF76-4789-A297-8963C465687C.jpeg https://larsonjuhl.co.uk/mouldings/larson-juhl-co...

Thanks very much for all the help and wisdom! Geospectrum I think you’ve cracked it, it looks like Lion L1883. Will ask for a sample to show. So pleased to have found it!

Re: Does anyone recognise this?
I realise I stupidly have attached the wrong photos ! !! Sorry!
These are the right ones. Thanks so much for all help so far ! It’s definitely a tray frame I’m after - as the artist told me that was the case ....?

Hi thanks, yes sadly not wide enough, only 1.2cm and I need 3cm. Pretty much right depth at 3.3 cm.

Does anyone recognise this?
If anyone can help I would be very grateful. :) I’ve been asked to source this frame, it’s a tray frame and measures 3cm wide and 3.5cm deep and was originally a plain wood. I’ve looked on Lion, Rose & Hollis, Wessex and Jarson Juhl but can’t see anything right. It seems to have a small amount o...

Re: Frame match
Thank you for the help. I’m thinking of turning it down as I’ve got to do the match only from the photo. I thought it was black but in fact it’s dark brown, and I’ve now found out the frame was made in New York, So I can’t even see it. It’s a discerning client so I may just say sorry can’t, which I ...

Frame match
Hello! Would anyone possibly recognise this frame I’ve been asked to match from this photograph. It’s been painted a very dark brown, and I think it’s 3-4 cms wide. I’ve had a look at my usual suppliers, Lion, Wessex, Larson Juhl and Rose & Hollis and can’t see anything.. Thanks so much in advan...

Re: Mount Cutters
Hi Just wondering, what would be the wrong blade for a Keencut? I have the Ultimat Futura and use the Keencut double sided blades. I was told that I may get better results with the single sided blades. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Help with matching moulding (again!)
All great advice, thank you. Spoke to the SA moulding supplier, and they don’t have an outlet here, and shipping the 40m I need too expensive. Waiting to hear back from Norfolk on making something up for me. But yes, I agree - with a little adaptation, the R&H moulding is pretty close and I’m ho...

Help with matching moulding (again!)
Hi, I’ve now got my hands on the frame I’m trying to match. I’ve found something (thank you GeoSpectrum) from Rose & Hollis, but as suspected, it’s not quite the same. Any thoughts on other ideas of companies to try to find the exact same moulding? The frame I’m trying to match was done is South...
