Morso blades

I've just fitted a pair of blades that I've had for a year but bought second hand, and have found that the front of them are not quite coming all of the way down so that a tail is being left on the cut moulding. Just wondering if this means that they've been ground too much and are now finished? My ...

Re: Insurance advice for a new business!

Can't remember the exact amount of cover but all of my equipment and stock is covered Justin. I do work in a very low crime area so that will also affect the premium.

Re: Insurance advice for a new business!

I'm currently with Direct Line cost me less than £300, compared to the £400+ figure that I had in the first year.

Re: To build an online gallery or not, that is the question

I've had my website since I opened and I agree that it's invaluable when people are looking for a framer in the area. Being in a tourist area, but off the beaten track, I've used the website and Facebook a lot for marketing purposes, as well as local advertising. I do show some of the work that I've...

Re: To build an online gallery or not, that is the question

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I still haven't decided on whether to go ahead with one or not as at the moment I am really a framer with a workshop tucked away on a housing estate, so no passing trade really. The pictures on the wall are sales aids as much as anything, and I am concerned abou...

To build an online gallery or not, that is the question

I'm not a dinosaur. I use IT all of the time and used to teach it. I play computer games in my spare time and always have done since my first computer way back in the 80's. But, I'm wondering about the viability of adding an online shop to my website. People are obviously buying art out there somewh...

Re: Jigsaw

As Cleaver said photo mount is actually what I was thinking when I said spray mount.

I don't have access to any laminating equipment which would probably have been my first choice. Not even anyone around me that I know of has one.

Re: Rippled artwork

Looks like I'll be changing my methodology in future. Thanks for the advice - looks like I was taught the wrong way 30 years ago. Hey ho. As for the current print rippling problem, I initially thought that it was a humidity problem from the customer which has only come to light once it was mounted. ...

Re: Hanging pictures in a static caravan

Just as an update, the customers have decided that as they can't foresee selling the caravan, they're going to put a picture hook up. Thanks all.

Re: Rippled artwork

I don't t-hinge as a rule but rather hinge it all along the top with a single piece of hinging tape. I don't fasten the artwork anywhere else unless I really have to. As for the humidity, that's one thing that I don't have to worry about in the workshop, thankfully. It's a modern, dry building unlik...

Rippled artwork

Hi all, after a bit more advice again. One of these fine days I'll have learnt enough to actually give some advice. :Slap: Anyway, I mounted a print today then noticed that it's rippled top to bottom almost all of the way along. Checked my hinging to make sure that it was all flat and it was. Any id...

I agree with Cleaver - 'Wappy'. I knew what it meant immediately even though it's not a word I use :giggle:

Re: Hanging pictures in a static caravan

Thanks for the replies. Just to make things clear, I have no intentions of putting the pictures up myself. That's the customers job as already stated. Useful information about the construction of caravans though and has confirmed what I was thinking. Prospero's workshop looks very good though

Hanging pictures in a static caravan

I've been asked by a customer what the best way is of hanging pictures in their static caravan without hammering nails into the flimsy walls. They've already tried those sticky pads advertised on TV and the picture immediately fell back off the wall within 30 minutes, which was good for me as I've g...
