Re: Backing for Oil Painting on Board

Thanks to all of you! Really helpful. Its pretty thick oil paint, I guess kind of impasto. The client specifically asked for the mount, hence the glass, I would generally try to do them without as well. To be honest, I think they were more concerned making the thing as large as possible. with the do...

Backing for Oil Painting on Board

Question about backing board....I have a painting done on board, it will be framed with glass, a double mount and held in place with a foam core window. What I am unsure about is the backing. Is is OK to seal this in with tawney board and tape, making it air tight, or does the back of the painting n...

Hi, sorry for the late reply, I am potentially interested, how much would you be looking for, and would there be the possibility of sending up it north?

Underpinner help/service

I can’t get any pressure into the underpinner pneumatic system as the air seems to be escaping from underneath the first connection, I think it is the air filter lubricator. I’ve been through the instructions but have hit a brick wa...

Re: Tuition Wanted (needed!)

Thanks all, I’ve had a good look at the courses in Livingston, some of them are exactly what I need so I’ll definitely be looking into them. Also found a few more in-depth on line Manuals so I’m having another crack at it today. Thanks for the other contacts, I’ll certainly be following them all up ...

Tuition Wanted (needed!)

I am based in the south of Glasgow from my home workshop. Just starting out, self taught so far but have reached a point where I am in need to some pointers. Glass for larger frames

I have a few jobs that are just over A1 size, one is about 112cm x 80 cm, does standard 2mm float glass work at this size or are there any more economical products out there that are less fragile when working on a larger scale? The only thicker glass I can find, even 3mm, seems to be considerable mo...
