Re: Paper Quality & Methods for Flattening Unruly Prints

Thanks Richard, interesting insight, but it's hand methods only for me. I have no plans to buy any machinery.

Re: Paper Quality & Methods for Flattening Unruly Prints

Thanks very much for the feedback.

Artwork facing out when rolling, and glassine on top. Good advice.

Anyone have any guidance or tips about pasting down fine art prints - recommended methods or tips?

Paper Quality & Methods for Flattening Unruly Prints

Hello, I’ve been framing some prints from a gallery recently which are described as 240gsm Satin paper using Epson Ultrachrome Archival inks. A number of these prints have revealed both major and minor creases. Unfortunately, some of the minor ones are only visible when the framed print is hung in a...

White Gummed Paper Tape all stuck together

Hello, I bought a roll of White Gummed Paper Tape a while ago and now that I have gotten around to using it it seems to be all stuck together with just paper tearing off and the the shiny gummed side only visible here and there only to tear back into paper only again with no gummed side. It's a 200m...

Re: Wanted - Stanley 400 Mitre Vice

Thanks, I'm familiar with the Axminster type. It is one of the stanley versions I'm after, which do indeed come up on ebay, but I was hoping to get one from a framer on this forum as there should be more of a guarantee that it is a fully functioning example, that has not been dropped or is misaligne...

Re: Wanted - Stanley 400 Mitre Vice

Thanks Mark. That's really interesting. Constructing handmade frames, including built up frames, is certainly one of the reasons I want to acquire this vice. I already have a Stanley 100 framers saw/vice and want a 400 also, to begin. To use them for separating old frames is not something I'd consid...

Thanks for your suggestion.

I had given it a thorough clean, but I'll go back over it again paying special attention to the threads.

Stanley 400 Mitre Vice Issues

Hello, I bought a Stanley Marsh 400 mitre vice for picture frames. After a good clean it has two issues. One vice runs perfectly smoothly on its threads, but the jaws are not parallel and seem to get further out of parallel as they close. https://imgur.com/a/NYwmZaB Does anyone one know the cause of...
