Re: Framing with low-end equipment
I've also been in the position of wanting to set up to do framing as an extension to my existing workshop activities. In my case picture framing is just one aspect, as the setup has wider uses in my other interests. I didn't want to spend a great deal of money as I am not doing this as a business, b...

Re: Morso blade sharpening
Wow - Mainline seems to be the overwhelming choice. Trouble is, their headline price of 'from' £13.50 comes out close to £37 with return shipping and VAT, which on a single set of blades gets quite expensive. Maybe that's what I've got to pay. Has anyone got experience of AJ Framing in Canvey Island...

Morso blade sharpening
Which company do you use for sharpening, and are you happy with the results? I did a search here, but some of the recommendations are now slightly dated so I thought I'd ask to see what's currently available in the UK.

Alfa 1M spacer washers
Looking at where the top assembly bolts onto the uprights of the base (the four main countersunk allen bolts - two each side of the top), are there spacer washers that fit between the top and the base? If someone has one of these machines could you take a look for me? The exploded parts diagram in t...

Alfa 1M lubrication
Where should the Alfa 1M be lubricated and what products should be used? The manual is woefully inadequate in this respect. In particular, do the sliding nylon bushes in the pedal mechanism need lubricating?

Re: C+H blade orientation
Seems I'm not restricted to C+H blades as the size (45mmx19.5mm) is more widely used than I initially though. I bought some Fletcher knife-edge blades and they fit perfectly. A much better edge than the C+H as well.

Re: C+H blade orientation
Thanks for the advice. After reading your reply I took a look at a Keencut manual and it does give a better explanation of blade types. The C+H aren't marked in the same way. I'll reserve the chisel blades and order some knife-edge blades for regular use. I saw that Lion has them and maybe others if...

C+H blade orientation
I've recently acquired a C+H Advantage mount cutter from a retired framer. It came with the blade inserted bevel-out (that's the way he used it) and I'm unsure if this is correct. The manual doesn't mention the orientation and the pictures are inconclusive. I would have thought that the bevel would ...

Re: Moving Morso F in saloon car
I got a reply from Claus Pederson at the factory and the advice is "You need to disconnect the draw bar either from the two screws on top of the knife block or with the nut from the bottom of the draw bar. And then as you say loosen the bolt, which tigthens the table to the frame. And of course...

Re: Moving Morso F in saloon car
Thanks for taking a look - much appreciated. A few weeks ago I had a professional heavy-removal company transport something that I could have done myself. My wife said "why keep mauling with stuff when you can pay someone else to do it" and they damaged it so badly even the driver agreed w...

Re: Moving Morso F in saloon car
None of this is helpful. I merely asked if the top could be split off and thought this would be a good place to ask. From the manual it looks like remove the blades, remove the actuator rod nut from the pedal and then take out the attachment bolts for the top casting and pull it away. I'll figure it...

Re: Moving Morso F in saloon car
I've transported heavier and bulkier machinery than a Morso, but have needed to remove as much weight as possible and then split the major parts and reassemble in my workshop. Hence my question about whether the top section easily comes off, as this would be better for me and reduce the potential fo...

Moving Morso F in saloon car
I have a VW Passat saloon car and I'm on the lookout for a Morso model F. Can anyone tell me if it's straightforward to split the base from the top, and would it be possible to load the top in the boot and the base on the back seat? I've had to be quite inventive in moving woodworking equipment over...
